@DAOSquare
An open marketplace where people build and invest in global Venture DAOs easily and safely.

DAOSquare Incubator is about to launch on @base. Before that, we will start the RICE Community Distribution to invite more like-minded individuals and organizations to participate in DAOSquare's governance and help DAOSquare achieve its vision. ⚠️Please note: The RICE Community Distribution involves no economic considerations whatsoever. This is merely an invitation—invitees are completely free to decline. ✏️Background We are building a crypto-native solution (DAOSquare) to help startups, developers, builders, creators, and all crypto builders better access funding and growth support, enabling them to turn their innovative ideas into reality and advance the development of the entire crypto ecosystem. Before DAOSquare, there were many pioneers dedicated to realizing this vision. First, @VitalikButerin abstracted the concept of #DAO and proposed #DAICO. TheDAO was the earliest instance, creating humanity's first trustless investment and fundraising experience, achieving a scale that remains unmatched to this day. Unfortunately, technical vulnerabilities led to its dormancy. Years later, @MolochDAO emerged, calling on long-termism to provide funding support through Moloch's unique mechanism to @ethereum community developers and researchers (especially those non-profit projects crucial to Ethereum's development). Moloch's success also led DAOs into a flourishing phase. Two years later, @VENTURE_DAO and @TheLAOOfficial were born based on the Moloch smart contract. If we say TheDAO represented a great experiment in crypto-native community capital, then MetaCartel Ventures and TheLAO represented great experiments in crypto-native venture capital. Subsequently, numerous developers and startups entered this field, building more diverse products around the concept of DAO + Capital to advance the prosperity of this space, including DAOSquare. If you experienced the DAO wave that started in 2021 and followed the DAO + Capital space, you likely saw an extensive catalog of products emerge. This rapid development filled everyone with joy, as if dreams were becoming reality. However, such swift growth always carries hidden risks. As you can see today. Many people complain that DAOs are dead, but by that logic, how about NFTs and DeFi? The truth is that the entire crypto space is sick now, and the cause is "speculative-driven." Startups, retail investors, and VCs alike are all driven by speculation. While speculation itself isn't the enemy—much like in nation-building—a community of pure speculators can never establish anything lasting. Though that's a separate discussion, we shouldn't fear this illness—it's actually a form of cleansing. As speculators depart, true builders will remain and inspire others to join. Conversations will refocus on crypto's core vision and the innovations surrounding it. These builders will continue their work, support one another, and advance crypto's development and prosperity. This brings to mind Moloch's philosophy: We sacrifice ETH to Moloch, which funds developers, projects, and researchers dedicated to Ethereum's development. When more builders—developers, projects, and researchers—collaborate to help Ethereum prosper, the ETH in all our wallets increases in value. (By the way, is anyone still discussing the tragedy of the commons?) While not every crypto participant will share this mindset, the space must be driven by long-term vision rather than speculative interests. Back to DAOSquare. Since 2019, we have steadfastly followed what we believe is the right way—building DAOSquare Incubator. Though the journey has been incredibly challenging, we did it, and we firmly believe it will become essential infrastructure in the crypto space. The product launch marks only our first step; it needs time to mature. While we'll continue giving our all, we recognize that this goal requires more than our efforts alone—it needs more like-minded companions. This is why we're launching our RICE Community Distribution. Through it, we hope to unite with those who've remained true to their original vision and have consistently built in this space to help DAOSquare achieve its mission. We extend our sincere invitation to you. Moreover, we welcome everyone to join us, participate in DAOSquare's governance, and contribute ideas. For this, we are deeply grateful! 👹RICE Community Distribution Recipients - Early Contributors - Beta Contributors - Admirable DAOs - DAO Pioneers Early Contributors Contributors who shaped DAOSquare's early development from 2019 to 2021, identified by the address held by the RICE v1 token. Beta Contributors Participants in DAOSquare's community beta period, identified by the address held by the DKP2, Discord ID (Passport and Cafeteria NFT), and activity score record in Discord. Admirable DAOs DAOs that have demonstrated significant impact and leadership in advancing DAO development. @MolochDAO Moloch emerged as the first successor to The DAO, reigniting the torch. By planting a fresh DAO seed in the community, it established the groundwork for widespread DAO adoption across the crypto space. Through its distinctive philosophy and principles, Moloch united the first wave of contributors—experts in funding, technical development, and research—who proved instrumental in advancing Ethereum's development. @Meta_Cartel Following Moloch's lead, MetaCartel adopted its philosophy and operational mechanisms but lowered entry barriers, enabling broader participation and support for community projects. Through funding and technical assistance, MetaCartel provided vital support to many initiatives, including DAOhaus, helping ensure their success. @DAOhaus DAOhaus stands out as one of the rare projects built natively as a DAO. Founded on Moloch's smart contracts and evolved through three significant updates, it has become a vital component of DAO governance tools. The DAOhaus developer community exemplifies the productivity potential of DAOs—particularly their resilience. It remains an enduring model for product-focused DAOs to emulate. @VENTURE_DAO MetaCartel Ventures is a pioneer in implementing DAOs in private investment. By applying DAO principles to investment operations, it created a new model called Venture DAO for managing private investments. As the initiator of the Venture DAO movement, MetaCartel Ventures has inspired organizations and individuals worldwide to reimagine private investment. @TheLAOOfficial The LAO, like MetaCartel Ventures, pioneered the implementation of DAOs in investment. Together, they spearheaded the Venture DAO movement. The LAO also made significant contributions to establishing legal frameworks for DAOs, offering valuable insights and guidelines for compliance. @Globalcoinrsrch Global Coin Research represents a new wave in community-based funds. Unlike MetaCartel Ventures and The LAO, it focuses on unleashing community power—specifically providing startups with support beyond mere funding. Global Coin Research has developed a comprehensive framework for implementing community-based funds. As the most promising fund category in the crypto space, its model serves as a valuable blueprint for organizations and individuals exploring community-driven investment. @RaidGuild Raid Guild is a developer community founded on DAO principles. For over six years, they have operated collaboratively through a DAO structure, providing technical services to numerous projects while developing their own products. Their spirit and operational model serve as an invaluable example in the DAO space—one worthy of study by anyone exploring DAO implementation. @1HiveOrg 1Hive is also a developer community built and operated based on DAO principles. With a history nearly as long as Raid Guild's, it has made outstanding contributions in the development field, such as to the Aragon ecosystem. Additionally, 1Hive has built a comprehensive on-chain operational mechanism, including treasury management and project management. To this day, these mechanisms remain valuable for anyone interested in DAOs to study, research, and reference. @commonsstack Commons Stack pioneers innovation in the public goods sector. Since its founding, the organization has focused on leveraging DAOs to advance public goods across diverse fields. Through extensive research and analysis, Commons Stack has developed key mechanisms and frameworks—especially in economic modeling—to enhance participant engagement in public goods development. @lex_DAO LexDAO pioneers innovation in the legal field. By implementing DAO principles, it unites legal talent worldwide into a global service network. LexDAO showcases the boundless potential of DAOs, inspiring confidence as we explore new domains. DAO Pioneers Individuals that have demonstrated significant impact and leadership in advancing DAO development. @VitalikButerin Vitalik pioneered the concept of DAOs and shared extensive early insights about their potential. His reflections offered crucial guidance for DAO implementation and significantly influenced later DAO participants, particularly The DAO. @ameensol Following TheDAO's attack and the subsequent quiet period in the DAO space, Ameen emerged as a catalyst for change. Through his effort with Moloch, he reignited interest in DAOs throughout the crypto world and accelerated the movement toward crypto project decentralization. @pet3rpan_ Pet3r Pan is a remarkable individual who further popularized DAOs across broader communities and was the first to propose the idea of providing funding support at the application layer, which was realized through MetaCartel. Beyond his focus on MetaCartel, Pet3r Pan embodies a spirit of selfless dedication, spending considerable time helping numerous aspiring DAO participants, assisting them in launching their DAOs, and supporting their growth without seeking anything in return. Pet3r Pan has played a decisive role in the overall development of DAOs. @jamesyoung Known as the "DAO Captain" among MetaCartel members, James Young is a true leader who combines a brilliant mind, gentle personality, and exceptional technical abilities. He consistently steps up first to tackle challenges, swiftly finding solutions whenever difficulties arise. As both builder and mentor of Moloch and MetaCartel, he guided these two DAOs from inception to become beacons lighting the way for the entire DAO ecosystem. @DekanBro Dekan is a low-key guy who pours all his energy into building. He launched the DAOhaus project and has quietly advanced its development since inception, persevering through numerous challenges. Most admirably, he remains unfazed by market noise, staying true to his original mission regardless of changing circumstances. Beyond his dedication to building, Dekan is remarkably helpful—particularly in matters concerning DAOs—treating everyone who seeks assistance with genuine kindness and offering unwavering support. These qualities serve as an inspiration to us all. @griffgreen As a founding member of The DAO, Griff has dedicated himself to advancing DAOs and public goods.
