In Phoenix, residents protest daily because there is no water, and only one or two water are allocated to wards with twenty thousand residents. In Durban North, one hundred thousand people went without water for weeks on end last year, dealing another painful blow to the tourism sector. It’s also not only about drinking water. This past December, the beaches of Durban were empty.

It has come to light that an increasing number of ratepayers in eThekwini are still being slapped with bloated incorrect municipal bills. The DA in the city has been inundated with frustrated residents coming forward asking for assistance.

The DA in eThekwini is utterly appalled by political parties that chose to vote against an opportunity to fire an incompetent ANC Mayor, Cllr Mxolisi Kaunda, through a Vote of No Confidence Motion table in today's council meeting.

NEWS: The DA is demanding answers from eThekwini City Manager, Musa Mbhele, over claims that 2661 employees of the ANC-run owe R52,2 million in unpaid rates while ordinary residents are forced to cough out any money they owe. Among the employees owing rates are senior managers.
