Voting “no” is the easiest vote you can take in Washington because you don’t have to go home and explain it. Our political system rewards obstruction over progress — and voting “no” on everything is politically a safe choice. One of the things I loved most about being a U.S. Senator was working across with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to find common ground and pass legislation that made our laws better than what they were before. But today, voting “yes” is seen as giving a win to the other side — a betrayal of your political party. There’s hardly a middle in Washington anymore because the parties force everyone to pick a side. When I voted on a bill, I didn’t care what person or party introduced the bill — I cared about whether or not it would help West Virginians. We need a political system that rewards putting America first and doing the bipartisan work that’s required to solve the problems facing our nation. #TribFest25

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY: JOHN NEELY KENNEDY NAMED ONE OF TIME MAGAZINE’S “TOP 100 MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE OF 2025” When the announcement came, the room rose to its feet — not out of surprise, but out of respect. John Neely Kennedy, the Louisiana senator whose sharp wit and plainspoken wisdom have echoed across America, now stands among the world’s most influential figures — honored not for power, but for principle, conviction, and an unwavering sense of duty. From the Senate floor to small-town gatherings, Kennedy has become a voice for common sense in uncommon times — a reminder that truth still matters, humor still heals, and leadership still means serving others first. Through decades of public service, he’s remained true to his roots — grounded in faith, guided by conscience, and never afraid to say what others only think. As applause filled the room, he offered only a modest smile. “I just try to tell the truth the best way I know how,” he said — a simple sentence that spoke volumes. Because in the end, real influence isn’t about headlines or politics — it’s about heart, honesty, and the courage to stand for what’s right..

Adam thank you for all you did for the basketball program. You made a difference and your family will be missed! Best of luck!!
Adam Williams@CoachAdamW

Personal Life Update: As some of you may have noticed, I have been absent on the Herd bench the last couple of games. Recently I was presented with an unbelievable opportunity outside of basketball that would allow me to spend the time with my family I have always dreamed of. I will always love the Herd! But that love pales in comparison to the love I have for my wife and children. Megan has been on this journey with me for over 20 years. Through ups and downs as a player and coach. 17 different moves in 4 states. Wins and losses. She’s been a rock of consistency and love. She gave up her dreams to chase mine. To all the coaches I have worked for: I take a piece of you with me to my new career. And I THANK you for lessons learned and opportunities given. Donnie Jones, Bob Williams, Jayson Gee, Dan D’Antoni, and Cornelius Jackson all believed in me and gave me an opportunity. I want to also thank Shawn Finney for teaching me that coaching was so much more than the stuff “on the floor”. To my so many friends in coaching: I thank God that basketball has introduced me to you. The great times on the road recruiting, Final Four’s, late night texts of encouragement or congratulations. I’m excited to cheer for you all now from the other side. To all my former players: it has and always will be about you guys! I’ll miss the guys keeping me young. I’ll miss our talks off the floor about life and anything else other than hoops. It has been the privilege of a lifetime to have been able to impact so many young people, and have them impact me as well. To Herd Nation: y’all are the best man. Since my time playing here in the mid 2000’s all the way through now, I see the same consistent faces. Fiercely loyal and ready to take on the world. Be excited for this year because Coach Jackson has put together a really talented group who will do big things! Now I turn my attention to a new career, in a new state once again. Hopefully this will be the last move for a long time. We will be relocating to Knoxville, TN for my position with Stryker medical. I’d imagine I’ll be coaching a little 9 and under AAU ball this summer too. Again, thank you all for the support over the years, from the bottom of my heart. It’s been a hell of a ride. Always A Son of Marshall, Adam Williams

Our nation just surpassed $38 trillion in debt — and hardly anyone is talking about it. There’s no sense of urgency, no remorse, and no accountability on either side of the aisle. Decades of unchecked spending brought us here. Yet instead of facing the problem head-on, our leaders have once again chosen to go home, shut down the government, and walk away from their responsibilities. When we have a disagreement at home, we don’t shut down our house. When a business faces tough labor negotiations, it doesn’t lock its doors and turn customers away. So why, in the greatest country on earth, do we shut down our entire government every time our leaders can’t agree? Our ballooning national debt and the repeated shutdowns, are symptoms of something much deeper: a political culture more focused on poll numbers, fundraising, and finger-pointing than on actually governing for the American people. It’s politics over people and party over country, and it’s weakening our nation. It doesn’t have to be this way. The Sensible Majority of Americans are ready for change - for leaders who solve problems instead of stage them. Visit AmericansTogether.org to see how reforms like term limits, nonpartisan primaries, and independent redistricting can help restore balance, accountability, and common sense to our government. pbs.org/newshour/polit…

WATCH: Where have we gone wrong as a country that Jay-Z and @Beyonce can’t meet with the Trump family on an issue near and dear to them without people trying to cancel them? It used to be guilty by association — now it’s guilty by conversation. Having dialog with one another — especially with those we disagree with — used to be an honorable thing. Everyone — regardless of political party — should want to work with the administration on issues that matter to all Americans, including immigration and criminal justice reform. You can’t bring good ideas to the table if you never come to the table in the first place. Read more about the lost art of conversation in my new book, DEAD CENTER: In Defense of Common Sense.
