@YesterdaysBrit1 Not the case for many women in Britain nowadays. So sad, with sad being a ridiculously inappropriate word for the state we are now in.
English

@NJSimmondsbooks They actually come from plagiarism of others' work. I'm sure snippets of my work are already in some AI generated works. Some of yours will be too.
English

@bagshaw2112 Famously featured on the cover of 'Rumours' by Fleetwood Mac.
English

@Kacey_Combs My first book was 'Badminton Coaching and Murder at Basingrove School'. It involved the death of a youngster I had deliberately written as being very likeable. I had to write a second book to get the sadness from my brain. Some readers couldn't read past that point in the story.
English

How invested do you get in your characters?
Are there sections of your work that are emotionally draining or painful to write/edit?
The last fifty pages of my novel leaves me feeling like I barely survived a hurricane .
Who can relate?

@TJHall81 @Bortkiewicz1982 Just for the record, when I peruse my partner's book collection to decide what to read, I avoid the ones that are longer than about 330 pages, which is 80,000 words or so. I don't think I'm alone and I do the same in bookshops...
English

I'm hoping with that this AI controversy will bring back interest in longer word count submissions. I know we are in the realm of 90k to 120k words to well god knows maybe 100k to 130k? Yes I am wishful thinking. I know it won't happen, but one can dream. #writerslife #authors

@misplacedcomma2 Be careful. Many handwash only items leach unpleasant chemicals into the water of a dishwasher, and they are then left on all your washed items.
English

@TraceyRyniec @CHRISF0GLE Easy to say, not so easy to do. You need a massive social presence for that, and not all authors will be able to do that.
English

@CHRISF0GLE Just shows you the power of making sales as an indie author. If you sell, eventually, they will come to you.
English

@iSlimfit Depends where you live. My county has 650,000 residents and there's massive gaps in provision of some services. You can't even go private because they are clogged due to the TOTAL lack of some services. First private consultation in Newcastle is now in May, surgery 6 months.
English

@mike56200 We lost trees in our garden because the original owner had left those bands on. Such a shame.
English

@daveguitarjones We were busy scrubbing clothes and ironing them. Then we didn't have fast food, air fryers or cheap microwave ovens. Less time to get bored. Then there was real music of course...
English

@TimothyGERuffer @anon_opin If we are going to get this right, remember that the approach of a shop assistant or barman means that they are asking what you want from them. 'I would like a coffee please,' is the best answer.
'Can I get...?' begs the answer 'No, but I will get it for you.'
English

@anon_opin Why can't you get a coffee? A coffee is what you're getting from them. You think it should be having a coffee? A coffee is what you have once you get it. You are asking them to get you a coffee. "Can I get a coffee (from you)?"
English

@anon_opin The best one is “ bathroom”. You go in and there’s no bloody bath.
English

@ajlen15 @anon_opin But they omit the 'and' now, and say 'can I get' when they mean 'would you get for me?'
English

@anon_opin I’m with you, but who asks to pat a dog?
‘Is it okay if the kids stoke your dog?’ Is how it goes.
‘Shall we go and get/grab a coffee’ is also perfectly normal colloquial language.
You’re literally getting it from the cafe.
English

@gotallmymarbles @anon_opin That pronunciation is from the French ran America.
English

@ameliarate123 @anon_opin Absolutely. Then there's people that call their car their ride.
