@LondonTommy66 Lapidos and Hefeld certainly fired a lot of bullets. I doubt if they were all collected up, or that people counted how many times they re-loaded. There is no evidence they got to a cache of ammunition during the chase but perhaps that possibility cannot be entirely ruled out?

@DBWalkingPast Can you clarify a detail for me? Accounts say Lapidos and his compadre discharged 400 shots. I find this hard to believe. I mean, physically, that must be two large satchels' worth. Also, they would hardly have anticipated such a huge gunfight.

Aerial photographs are great for looking at buildings hidden from view behind walls. This example from 1933 shows HMP Manchester, also known as Strangeways, including its exercise yards. What hidden places can you find with our Aerial Photo Explorer?👇 historicengland.org.uk/images-books/a…

Good morning, Jim @lilolme_jm & thank you rather belatedly on my part, I'm afraid. Thanks for your kind comments & support. Here's another view of the front of 223, Bow Road (obliquely) in "Nearing Bow Church" by Henry Silk from 1931. #HenrySilk #SaturdayMorning #EastLondonGroup

@EastLndonGroup The building may not have changed much but Bow Road most certainly has! I'll leave this link to a little history of the building. lookup.london/223-bow-road-h… It's lovely to see you active here again, sir. You were greatly missed in your absence.

Some of these Rosebery Ave trees were planted c 1890 by the Metropolitan Public Gardens Assoc -under the direction of their landscape gardener, Fanny Wilkinson. Read @ her + friends in my ‘Enterprising Women: the Garretts and their circle’ womanandhersphere.com/2025/03/11/ano…

Now, this is what all London should look like. The temperature is remarkably more pleasant in this street compared to those without trees. PS. This is the no-go area of Camden.

The Dover Pharos in Kent is the most complete standing Roman building in England. Built in the early 2nd century AD, it is also one of only three lighthouses to survive from the whole of the former Roman empire. Is it the oldest building in England? ➡️ bit.ly/TheOldestBuild…
