Because Andor showed all the dark parts of fascism and didn’t dumb it down or try to distract you with flashy fight scenes or nostalgia bait. It felt real because it IS real and is something many people are experiencing right now in the world. The empire was always the bad guys, but the mistake a lot of past star wars projects have made is not showing you just how destructive and evil the empire is. You know they do bad things but it’s rarely shown in graphic detail. Andor took the gloves off and it made Star Wars better because of that.

Andor did something to me that no other Star Wars film ever could: they made me actually HATE the empire. Before they were just nebulous bad guys, but in Andor they became an oppressive violent force that exerted their authority just because they could and I wanted them to lose like never before.
