Many older games ran at or targetted 60fps. N64 would be a better example, having plenty of games <30fps with animation timing around that (argument some Zelda fans bring up for low fps in recomps). Output res and texture filtering are the real argument for aesthetic preservation

my most controversial gaming opinion is that all "retro PSX" indie games look like shit because they're running at 500fps instead of a choppy 30. i absolutely believe framerate is part of the aesthetic which i know gamers would crucify me for.

@DB_Ludus if i dump textures with nethersx2 it’ll be structured like /textures/SLPM-65434/dump/xxx-xxx-xxx.png and it’ll automatically create an empty folder /textures/SLPM-65434/replacements. i tried putting the opening screen png there, doesn’t work. 🥀

Interplay felt like price gouging their old games on Nov. 2nd. $20 for SHOGO is insane. Many of their releases got bumped 50-100%. Funnily you can see they messed this up with MDK as you can buy a combo with MDK and MDK2 for $15 or be a chump and spend $40 for both individually.

@vettvv1per Did you still keep it in the game's name folder "SLPM-65434"? I've never used nethersx2 but If the subfolders were dumped into just /replacements/texture.png it should be /replacements/SLPM-65434/texture.png

@DB_Ludus @PCSX2 hello good sir it seems like no matter what i do it won’t work on nethersx2. i tried putting all pngs outside of their folders into /replacements/, renaming them to match the dump texture name formats, switching async loading/gpu palette conversion, nothing works.

@hecku_back I liked the A3 when I used it no mods (old roommate had it as part of his collection). Heavy trigger aside, the ergo wasnt as bad as made out to be. AUG hate is overdone but AUG cope is about as annoying as HK purists where they ignore the fact its good after spending a kidney

Despite Reddit claims that Konami is ai upscaling artifacting in the final update for the Master Collection Vol.1, our resident modder @Afevis found otherwise. It’s “a double-printed Cyrillic stencil reused across most textures with text.” The same method appeared in with HDC & Delta. Many in-game textures with text were never meant to be readable, they’re just sharper and not blurry now after digging through each asset.

@joaohrs2 @PCSX2 In this case just PCSX2 texture dumping and loading. Same way many PCSX2 based HD texture packs are done. I might look into tooling to make a proper xDelta patch as the game uses TM2 bitmaps (a generic PS2 texture format) but I'd need to see about dumping/rebuilding game files.

@vettvv1per @beeeemooooo @PCSX2 I mention it on the git readme description but I recommend rebinding triggers to the analog stick using pcsx2 controller rebinds. It works really smooth!

FH6 has bigger issues to fry like aero options that pale compared to Forza 2 or the reuse heavy asset library (would be a shame to see a bunch of USDM spec JP cars in a game set in Japan). Still, at a glance doesn't just look like neon pink and blue sakura petal covered nonsense.

For as many issues as modern Forza has, the new Horizon doesn't strike me as "thing Japan" syndrome. Might only take seeing a DEI as shit annoying cutscene from the "story" to change that but if you want the cringeworthy "thing Japan" slop racer for comparison JDM is right there.

Fixed aspect ratio supremacy applies to more than just menu heavy RPGs but people aren't ready for that conversation. Ultrawide is a mental virus or anything not sim/fps or work software related.

A lot of emulator widescreen patches look really bad to me tbh. So many of them horribly stretch the UI and it just looks so ugly, especially in menu heavy games such as JRPGs. Idk why people play games like this rather than just playing in 4:3
