On 2 May 1908, revolutionary Prafulla Chaki shot himself as Inspector Nandalal Banerjee was about to arrest him. Later: 1. Nandalal severed Chaki's head and sent it to Kolkata 2. The head was buried in the garden of the IB office at Lord Sinha Road 3. IB later exhumed the head/skull and sent it to Lalbazar police station, where it was kept in the record room (just as the Russians had kept the skull of Hitler) 4. The skull was last seen by historian Amlendu De but has since then disappeared Old pictures of dead Chaki coloured using @grok. The intent is to present a historical fact. It tells you a lot about the Brown Sepoy mentality.

A good thread about Brown Sepoys. Jallianwala Bagh, Dunkirk, Peaking were all the same for the sepoys. They went wherever their masters wanted them to. They killed whoever their masters wanted them to. Anything to serve thy master. Left to them, the British Empire would have continued for ever, and India would have never become free.

This day in 1943, Subhas Chandra Bose was transferred by dinghy in rough seas to a Japanese submarine from a German U-boat, giving new thrust to our freedom struggle. Quit India movement had collapsed months earlier, and all top Congress leaders were in jail.

This is from @ShubhamAzadHind's personal collection: Abid Hasan recalls the story of "Jai Hind". I am aware of the view which holds that the slogan was originally coined by Chempakraman Pillai in Germany. Whatever be the case, nothing takes away Hasan's historic role in recommending it to Bose.

Enhanced/coloured version of a picture of Subhas Chandra Bose and Abid Hasan Safrani on a German submarine. Early morning on 28 April 1943, they were transferred to a Japanese submarine. Later, Hasan joined MEA and retired as ambassador. He never believed the plane crash theory of Netaji's death. Thank you, @grok for making history come alive.

Testimony of Major Abid Hasan Safrani who proposed the slogan of Jai Hind to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose as the salutation for the Indian National Army in Germany. It was originally coined by Chempakraman Pillai in Germany during 1907. @anujdhar @ManojNaravane

"China was asleep (under the spell of addiction) for a very long time. It was under the domination of foreign races. A sleeping race like this cannot be reawakened to do something big by imposing a democratic framework." -- Gumnami Baba (translated)

The R&D and technology gap between India and China is widening rapidly. China is building futuristic EVs with advanced battery technology that can charges a car 0 to 100 in 10 minutes. China is no longer our competition, we are far left behind.

@anujdhar @N09434002 Brown sepoys who fought for British imperial interests can still be glorified, yet even today a memorial in a prominent place in New Delhi for the soldiers of the INA, who gave their lives & actually fought for India’s freedom, remains absent

"Battle of Gallipoli, where brave Indian soldiers fought alongside their counterparts from Australia, New Zealand..." Australians, New Zealanders fought for their respective countries and deserve full respect. What were these "brave Indian soldiers" fighting for in 1915 when their own country was reeling under foreign occupation? Stop glorifying Brown Sepoys, please. The same lot carried out Jallianwala Bagh massacre and killed freedom fighters during the Quit India movement. Left to them, India would have never become a free nation.

Thank you for the kind word. The truth about Netaji is in the realm of Central govt. State govt can play a big role by pushing for it in a big way -- which has not happened thus far. The Left govt demanded an inquiry in 1998 and did nothing else. Mamata didi became the first CM ever to make public statements that Netaji never died, but did not follow it up with some action.
Vih 🇮🇳@vishal_mishra28

The day a nationalist party comes to power in West Bengal, the truth about Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose will no longer be buried it will be questioned, pursued, and brought before the nation. Salute to @anujdhar and @chandrachurg for keeping Netaji’s real history alive.
