🚨New: Pep reacts to Jude Bellingham’s comments criticizing Thomas Tuchel after England’s 2-1 win over Norway at the 2026 World Cup: 🗣️ “First of all, Jude is an exceptional player. Exceptional. I love his mentality, I love his courage, I love that he always wants responsibility. This is why he is where he is. So this is not criticism of Jude as a player. But I have to defend Thomas because I know what it means to be in that position. People think when a coach speaks after a victory, he should only celebrate. No. This is not the job. The job is to improve the players, improve the team, improve every detail. This is the responsibility. Thomas is one of the best coaches in the world. His standards are incredibly high. If he says the performance was not good enough after winning, maybe he is not attacking the players. Maybe he is protecting the future of the team. The players, the players… they always think about today. The coaches, we have to think about tomorrow, next week, the next knockout game. This is the difference. People misunderstand demanding coaches. They think if we speak critically after winning, we are unhappy. No, no, no. We are happy with the result. But football is not only about the result. Football is about the process that gives you the result again and again and again. Winning one game can happen in many ways. Winning tournaments consistently happens because your standards never go down. Sometimes people say, “You have to win dirty.” Maybe. Sometimes football is ugly. Sometimes you suffer. Sometimes you defend your box. Sometimes you survive. This is part of football. But if your philosophy becomes winning dirty, then one day you will lose dirty as well. Our ambition should always be to control the game. Control the ball. Control the spaces. Press together. Attack together. Defend together. Reduce transitions. Make the opponent run. Make the game belong to you. This is what the great teams try to do. Perfection does not exist. I have said this many times. It is impossible. But every single day we chase it because in chasing perfection, maybe we arrive at excellence. After victories, I am often more demanding than after defeats. Why? Because after defeats everybody listens. After victories, everybody relaxes. That is the dangerous moment. The players, the players… they need honesty. Not comfort. Honesty. If Thomas tells his team, “We won, but we can play much better,” that is a gift. It is not punishment. It is respect. He believes they are capable of more. The greatest players I have worked with never stopped accepting difficult conversations. They wanted more information, more details, more corrections. Why? Because they understood that feedback is not the enemy of confidence. Feedback is the path to becoming even better. When an elite coach challenges an elite player, it is because he sees another level that maybe nobody else sees yet. So I understand the emotions after the match. I understand defending your teammates. I like that. But Thomas deserves enormous respect because coaches who demand more are usually the ones who help players become the very best versions of themselves. At the end, football is simple. You can celebrate the victory tonight. Tomorrow morning, you start improving again. That is football. That is why we love this game. —@ResiFootball

Seeing this made me think: What if this happened in a Portugal game, with Ronaldo in Haaland’s position and Bruno Fernandes in Sorloth’s? If Bruno refused to pass him the ball, Ronaldo fans would have forced Bruno to delete his social media accounts. 😂😂
