Sheep have a habit of descending steep crags to a ledge where they see good grass. They then find it impossible to climb back up to where they belong. Marooned and cragfast they eventually die or need external rescue. Thoughts prompted by this absurd trend in museums & galleries.

If you love the Greek and Roman classics it will do your heart good to read this wonderful essay. So happy for the success of the good folks at Antigone in their quest to bring the joy of classics to a wide public. So many lessons here for all of us who share the goals!

Ancient Greek proverbs are very badly served by modern publishing. Almost all are buried in nearly impossible to access 18th c editions, or on TLG, and untranslated.

The new textbook list for the Latin program I'm running: by the time students finish 10th grade, they will have read 100k+ words (over half a million, counting re-reading) and have read three complete medieval Latin works.

My books trained AI, and I am glad they did. I might feel differently if writing were my sole source of income. The DCC website definitely helped train AI, and that is consistent with our OER mission.
