I did something that's big news for me, and not typically what academic political scientists do: I wrote a parenting book about our subject. This is a medium-long thread on why/how.

Today, I'm announcing that I'm running for the United States Senate. I'm a fifth-generation Kansan. My family came here 147 years ago and settled in a town called Hope. I'm running because Kansas — and our country — deserve better than what Washington has been giving us. We need leaders who put service above self, country before party, and people before politics. Can some political scientist who likes DW-NOMINATE data make a thing that we can use to quickly visualize specific members relative to everyone else?

Congressional Republicans (especially the men of the party) are far more likely to host their own podcasts, go on other podcasts, and talk about podcasts in their official constituents communications than Democrats - this is a key part of our politics that is under understood.
