Per MPD PIO: Overnight in D.C., four people were shot, two were killed in three separate incidents. One of the two killed was a 13-YEAR-OLD BOY. On Saturday, July 11, 2026, at approximately 8:24 p.m. Fifth District officers responded to the 1600 block of Rosedale Street, Northeast for the report of a man down. Upon arrival, a 13-year-old juvenile male was located unconscious and not breathing suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. The lookout is for a black juvenile male, wearing a black shirt and black pants. He was last seen at 16th and Rosedale on a black bike. MPD’s Homicide Unit is investigating this shooting. Upon arrival, an adult male was located unconscious but breathing suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. Despite all lifesaving efforts the victim was pronounced dead. The Homicide Unit is leading the investigation into this shooting. CCN: 26096622 On Sunday, July 12, 2026, at approximately 12:29 a.m. Seventh District officers responded to the 2200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Southeast for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, two adult male victims were located both conscious and breathing suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Great question. The real problem is that the MPD staffing is short ~850 sworn members from its authorized strength of 4000. This is why we have been unable to address crime properly. Instead of trying to fix policing, the Council has funneled tens of millions into the shady, grift laden world of “violence interruption.”

#NEW The T.R.I.G.G.E.R. Project, a youth violence prevention group, confirms the shooting at a NE D.C. church Monday happened during their event, and the two victims who were wounded were attending. "Regrettably, all youth were exposed to gun violence directly."

FATAL MASS OVERDOSE INCIDENT: 8 people were found suffering from suspected overdoses at 1:45 p.m. along the 900-1400 blocks of H Street NE in DC. 7 individuals were treated on scene, while an 8th person was found unconscious and not breathing and was pronounced dead at the scene by DC Fire and EMS personnel. The National Park Service is shutting down Dupont Circle Park for Pride weekend in DC. Friday through Sunday. Last year NPS fenced off the park and then reversed course amid the backlash. Then there was a shooting and stabbing nearby that Saturday, forcing the closure of the park on Sunday.

U.S.Attorney Jeanine Pirro announces the take down of a major drug conspiracy in Southeast DC. An investigation began by MPD in 2024. More to come.

One takeaway from the primary is that only about 100k voted, fewer than the 130k in the 2022 (uneventful) mayoral primary. While there were clear winners last night, it should be noted that the voting base was not thrilled by the choices.

DC voters have a choice to make today.

Not only is this allegation a violation of campaign finance, it’s also a 5 year felony under 1-1163.35(c).

Who are the five DC Council members who have refused to advance curfew measures, an important law enforcement tool, that enhances public safety, and keeps young people out of dangerous situations?   -Janeese Lewis George -Trayon White -Robert White -Brianne Nadeau -Zachary Parker   They must stop prioritizing the chaos inherent with these out of control meet ups, as well as prioritizing offenders instead of law-abiding citizens of the District.
