This workhouse account book was also used as a recipe book belonging to Mrs Tresize, matron of the workhouse in the early 1900s. We thought we’d share it again on World Cheesecake Day, as in the back of the book are recipes for rice cheese cakes and apple cheese cakes! 🍎🍚

“I learnt a lot and have been inspired to read more since on the subject of Cornwall's pre-history.” Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Hillfort Hikes at Castle an Dinas and Caer Bran as part of the #FestivalofArchaeology! The walks were part-funded by @HeritageFundUK.

It's been a while (I had a Twitter break) but happy to say our 2024 volume 'Cornish Churches in the 19th Century: the Church Notes of the Lysons Brothers and Sir Stephen Glynne' ed. Paul Cockerham, has gone to @boydellbrewer. Much for fans of church history and Cornish buildings

Come and have a go at weaving! Inspired by the women who wove silk at Heathcoat’s factory in Redruth (featured in our current exhibition), make your own loom, then choose from amazing multicoloured wool and make a yarn woven work of art! Free, drop-in session for all ages .
