Ed Prep Year 2 students wrapped up Administrative Shadowing Week with a visit to DeSoto County Schools Central Services! After shadowing school leaders, they heard from district leadership and gained valuable insight into education beyond the classroom. @DCSeNews

Thank you so much to Mrs. Lawrence from Chickasaw Elementary for speaking with our Ed Prep Year 1 students about becoming and serving as a librarian. She also led a fun and engaging activity that our students can use in their future library classrooms. @DCSeNews

Ed Prep students wrapped up Teaching Week with engaging lessons that showed their growth and passion for education. Thank you to CHES for hosting our Year 1 students, and to DCPS, SES, OBES, and HIS for providing incredible learning environments for Year 2. @DCSeNews

Our Law and Public Safety and Fire Science programs brought home the hardware this weekend at the State CERT Competition in Jackson! 🏆 Students earned: 🥇 1st Place – Felony Traffic Stop 🥇 1st Place – Firefighter Utility 🥉 3rd Place – Felony Apprehension @DCSeNews

This week, our Ed Prep students explored ways to combat teacher burnout. We wrapped up the week with a relaxing Yoga & Meditation Friday! A huge thank you to our AP, Dawn Davis, for leading such a fun session. Your support and positivity make a difference. @DCSeNews

Health Science students put their knowledge to the test with a real-world experience at Kroger! With shopping lists in hand, students were given mock patient scenarios with specific dietary needs and challenged to plan a full day of meals to meet those needs. @DCSeNews

CTC East SkillsUSA members are headed to Jackson and ready to compete in the State Skills Competition over the next two days! We are so proud of these students and all the hard work they’ve put in to get here. Wishing them the best of luck and safe travels! @DCSeNews

Educator Prep Year 1 and Year 2 students had an amazing opportunity to partner with Southaven Elementary School’s 1st grade classes to help chaperone a zoo field trip! 🐾 @DCSeNews

Advanced Manufacturing students at CTC East partnered with Pleasant Hill Elementary to create a special Buddy Bench inspired by Pleasant Hill student, Sawyer. We love seeing our students use their skills to make a difference in our community! @DCSeNews

Health Sciences Year 2 students finished their Pharmacology unit with a trip to Target for a scavenger hunt focused on over-the-counter medications! Students explored the pharmacy aisles while learning to identify medications and read labels. @DCSeNews

Health Science Year 2 students have begun their job shadowing rotations at Baptist DeSoto, starting with an informative and engaging orientation. Students learned expectations, procedures, and what it takes to work in the healthcare field. @DCSeNews

Year 2 students at CTC East got a true Reality Check today! Students participated in a real-life simulation that included budgeting, financial planning, job placement, investments, and time management. Thank you Regions Bank and Nicholas Moore for this wonderful experience!

There may have been snow flurries today, but spring is in the air in Ed Prep. Students designed interactivebulletin boards, focusing on creativity, student engagement, and classroom environment. Projects like this prepare our future teachers for real classrooms. @DCSeNews

DeSoto Career Tech showed up and showed out at Overpark Elementary’s STEM Night! 🚀 From robots and virtual reality to creating shooting stars and fireworks, our programs brought hands-on STEM experiences to OES students. We love inspiring the next generation! @DCSeNews

WorkKeys Wednesday focused on strengthening key workplace skills this week! Students are putting in the effort, practicing problem-solving and critical thinking as they work to improve their WorkKeys scores. @DCSeNews

Our Law Enforcement students had a hands-on day learning and practicing essential first aid techniques. From assessing injuries to responding quickly in emergency situations, these students are building the skills needed to serve and protect their communities. @DCSeNews

Today our Ed Prep crew took learning beyond the classroom walls! Our future teachers toured the powerful and moving National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis. @DCSeNews

WorkKeys Wednesdays at CTC East help students increase their scores on ACT WorkKeys! Through practice, strategy building, and skill reinforcement, students are gaining the tools and confidence they need to boost their scores and strengthen their workforce readiness. @DCSeNews

Year 1 Ed Prep students officially kicked off their student teaching rotation today at Center Hill Elementary! There is nothing better than real classroom experience to help our future teachers grow in confidence, skill, and heart. The future of education is bright! @DCSeNews
