Ever wonder what makes up your electric bill? Here is the breakdown:
27% delivery: The physical grid. We audit and regulate this portion to control costs and ensure reliability.
73% supply: The cost of the power itself. This is driven by regional energy markets outside of local control.

We want to help unpack how this works. For example, on a standard electric bill, we strictly audit and regulate the "delivery" portion (about 27%) to protect customers, while the remaining 73% is driven by regional market forces.
There’s a lot of nuance here. What part of the utility process or your bill would you like us to break down next? Let us know, and learn more: dcpsc.org/Consumers-Corn…

We hear you—utility bills have increased. With the complexity of our energy system, there’s no quick way to lower costs or make that bottom line easier to swallow. Our mandate is to consider affordability alongside the need to invest in our infrastructure and keep the grid safe and reliable.

Happy 113th anniversary to the DCPSC! We were established in March 1913 and originally led by Chairman Lt. Col. Chester Harding. Sworn in by President Woodrow Wilson, Harding was a skilled member of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. Harding went on to serve as Governor General of the Panama Canal Zone and was inturned at Arlington National Cemetery. Learn more: bit.ly/DCPSChistory
