@HickmanPierson Thanks. The particular journal I'm working on has a more formal pitch process (they want an outline! or a draft! and I'm not there yet). I'm trying to figure out the balance between "submit ASAP since it's for a specific issue" and "prove value by writing the whole thing."
@DCdotNerd Yes. I just look up in the journal the masthead and find the name of an editor that seems to make the line up of articles. I email them with my pitch. They’ve always been very receptive and then I write the article and send it to them!
Have any of my peeps successfully proposed an article for a state bar journal (trade publication, not peer-reviewed)? Can you share your experience with me?
Y’all. The Vice President of Student Affairs at Frostburg State University just picked Kamari Felton up and is driving him to school. “We felt horrible about the way it happened”, he said. Kamari is going to college!!! #atlast#frostburgstateuniversity#dctag#playtimeproject
Looking for advice from #LawLibrarians: is there a way to identify (pref. on @HeinOnline but other resources are options) journal special issues on a given topic? I searched for "special issue" and "[topic]" but that was way too broad.
@HeinOnline You mean I have to take responsibility for my own professional development?! HORRORS. (I'm too busy doing research about lawyers ignoring librarians.)
@HeinOnline Wow, I think I need a tutorial in how to use your product since it just took me multiple attempts even with a screenshot to find it. But hooray! Thank you for finding it for me :-)
Anecdote: I stopped reading the Maryland Bar Journal when I read an article that used the word "tenant" instead of "tenet." But I'm proposing an article so should have some more recent experience with it.
@ColleenUALawLib +being considered unauthorized practice of law. But when I checked the AR Judiciary website, I didn't see anything in the rules or administrative orders that seemed to be relevant. Did the rules not get changed in 2015/2016, or was I looking in the wrong place? Thanks!
@ColleenUALawLib Amazing! Since I can't DM you, please forgive this being multiple tweets long. I was reading a 2015 article that mentioned a rule change proposed to the AR Supreme Court by the AR ATJ Commission about defining the activities that could be done by court staff without +
And, with that, I'm done at @wamu885/@dcist. It's been the honor of a lifetime, and I'll miss it a ton. Thanks for listening, reading, and engaging! My colleagues remain the greatest, and I'm excited to see the impactful work they'll continue to produce.
@holly It's more that I might have given different names altogether if I were going to give a longer name. I DID find that I needed to give Skates a middle name so he would know when he was in trouble.
Lord Humphrey Harrumphrey has a life changing day ahead!
As well as getting his trouble puffs off, he's having his tiny little nostrils expanded so he can breathe better. The vets said he's one of the worst cases of flat face they've ever seen. Poor little guy
