I joked yesterday about the blue/red button thing but here's my take: I do not assume every other person is rational or understands the question. I assume that most rational actors know this and combined with non-rational actors we save everyone by pressing blue.

@TheOmniLiberal Insurance companies integrated with everything down the line in healthcare so that they could control the cost of everything. Now they can say that they've paid out the legally mandated amounts. But they're paying inflated costs to companies they own. And declining care.

Insurance companies are required to pay out claims, they can't keep more than 20% of all premiums, if they don't pay out enough claims then the rest is reimbursed to people who are insured. No one on the far left has literally any idea how insurance markets or healthcare or anything in the US works, it's just endless virtue signalling to rile people up to get some momentary popularity for their unelectable candidates while Republicans are busy destroying the country.

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

I absolutely do not believe D&D in the USA is 40%. How can they possibly determine this? People at conventions? Polls? Both self-select. You just swallow their numbers uncritically. Go LOOK at games in game stores, at conventions, at game clubs, and elsewhere. That 40% is untrue and WotC knows it. You may ask, how do I know that Japan is 70%? Well I guess I am also going by what a company tells me. BUT at the big Call of Cthulhu convention I attended in Tokyo, it was at least 70% female. Maybe more.

Insurance premiums aren't the only version of this, but at this point we sure do pay a lot of what are basically taxes directly to corporations.

Hot Take? Star Trek's prime directive is very inconsistently applied, sometimes it's a good policy involving respect for the customs of other cultures and societies. Other times it's just eugenics and it's rarely anything in between those two options.
