@RepSummerLee These schools can’t even educate these kids. Don’t you think you should focus on that before taking on the task of trying to feed them?

While Harrisburg is trying to raise the minimum wage to $11/hour next year, I'm proud of the fact that county workers will be making $18/hour next year with healthcare, pension and more - 50% more than the state proposal.

@JoeBerner Great question. Unfortunately, plants can't pull out all lead from the soil but they will have the biggest impact in the first 10 years or so. After that, compost application will further help reduce concentrations and wood chips can be used to create a physical barrier.
English

@DECO_Resources If you were to plant 100 5 ft sunflower plants, would it take 1, 10, 30, or more years to remediate the levels? Thanks!
English

@JoeBerner Lead is a persistent metal that will not go away unless physically removed. Compost makes the lead less bioavailable to plants and people but it also creates a physical barrier to reduce exposure. Also, adding compost reduces the concentration of lead through dilution.
English

@DECO_Resources Does the compost eliminate or reduce the lead present in the soil, or just reduce the lead uptake by plants?

@JoeBerner "adding compost to lead-contaminated soil has been shown to reduce lead uptake by plants by as much as 70%"

@DECO_Resources Can you elaborate on how the compost remediates lead in soil?

@NaTishaCWpgh The air monitors ONLY report particulate matter at 2.5 microns. Air pollution can encompass a wide range of pollutants that are not all being monitored or reported here.

Someone explain this to me, why are the dots green and the reports are not?
