British cops are a disgrace to the profession, and it’s because they don’t carry guns. Hear me out. When you, as a cop, carry a gun, it hammers home the seriousness of the work and the size of your responsibility. You are entrusted with the full power and authority of the law, and the weight of your weapon is a constant reminder of the importance of getting it right — and the devastating consequences of getting it wrong. A cop without a gun is little better than a civilian, both in his ability to respond to violence and in the way he approaches his job. A police officer must maintain professionalism at all times, and a gun is an ever-present reminder of that. You behave more carefully when you’re carrying a gun, more deliberately, less casually. You are constantly on your guard, keeping your head on a swivel, constantly _observing_. If the cops who let Henry Nowak die had been trained and carrying firearms, I do not believe that they would have failed to investigate his claims of having been stabbed, or failed to see that he was grievously injured. The additional training might well have made the difference and saved Henry’s life. When you are armed, you do not brush aside the possibility that you’re talking to someone who is also armed; there is an extra level of awareness when it comes to weapons and to the behavior of those around you. The other thing that would change if British cops regularly carried guns is that applicants to the various departments would have to be screened more carefully. None of the cops who let Henry die would have made it through their probationary period here in the US, if they even graduated from police academy. The lack of professionalism among British cops is shocking, and it’s because they don’t have to be professional. They’re just a bunch of civilians with badges. The stakes are so much higher when you’re carrying a firearm, which means you have to be careful about who you hire and how you train, and if you hire and train properly, that makes for better cops, who take their jobs and their responsibilities more seriously.

@conservmillen God does or Moses and Paul? I’m pretty sure Christ was gods direct messenger on earth and he never once even mentioned homosexuality or sex period, he did however command us to love as God has loved us. News flash you can’t love someone while hating the core of their identity.

Today marks the beginning of what some call Pride Month. For Christians, we celebrate today like we do every day - that this is the day the Lord has made, so let us rejoice and be glad in it. When we see the acronym LGBTQ, we don’t see sexual identities to celebrate, we see image-bearers of God who are doing what’s right in their own eyes and need the kind of love that points to Jesus and His truth. The truth is God made us male and female so that a man can leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. God IS love and He has the authority to define it. He calls homosexuality a sin, and holy marriage between a man and woman very good. The most loving thing we can do is agree with God. We can’t love others by affirming sin. This is my response to why we don’t celebrate Pride Month:

I remember when my first boy first asked me what "gay" was. I wanted to give him a good answer, but I hadn't prepared anything, and I was caught off guard. What I said was, "Well, you know how mommy and daddy are married and we love each other and we kiss each other?" He said, yeah. "Well, some boys want to marry other boys, and some girls want to marry other girls. That's what being gay is." He was quiet for a minute. I was worried I had said the wrong thing. Then he got this kind of disgusted look on his face and said, "Oh. That's weird." I smiled and said, "Yeah. It is kind of weird, huh?" Then I spoke with him about how we don't hate gay people, but it's not something Jesus wants us to do. God wants us to have families and only a boy and a girl together can make babies and make a family. I think it went pretty well. It's just funny how, without any prior conditioning or knowledge, he intuitively recognized that homosexuality just wasn't correct. It was "weird."

How did we get to the point where it’s considered far right to question whether it’s appropriate for a show aimed at preschoolers to talk about sexuality?

Basically, here’s my position. I am done with the GOP coddling this. And yes, that includes Trump. So everywhere I see it, including if I see it from our President or the White House account, I’m going to go to war with it. We should never have tolerated it, but the best time to undo that cowardice and capitulation is now. It must stop.
