#C5ISR Center’s Humanitarian Demining team recently provided an overview and demonstration of its mission and recent technological advancements in mine detection to members of the Congressional Unexploded Ordnance/Demining Caucus.
The event was organized by the HALO Trust and Mines Advisory Group, an important partner for the Center’s humanitarian demining efforts.
The Center’s program leverages vast technical expertise to significantly enhance regional stability, increase the safety of deployed U.S. forces and residents, and bolster economic activity around the world.
Since the program’s inception, more than 420,000 mines and UXO have been found and destroyed. Researchers gain access to minefields and UXO-threatened areas in war-torn environments for important data collection and algorithm development, enabling next-generation capabilities that integrate advanced sensors and artificial intelligence to achieve military and demining objectives.
