@alfish83 @GorgieTalk Dens capacity was 25,000 and the crowd was just over 29,000. No idea of the split between home and away. Never heard of the fine before- Dundee, incredibly, were given dispensation to exceed the capacity by the authorities.

Folk will know I've been searching for my ancestral Grandfather's Scotland caps he earned whilst playing for Dundee between 1893-1896. 1 was lost but 1 remained but had eluded me & I'd given up hope. Francis Barrett won 2 caps, 1 against Ireland in 1894 & 1 against Wales in 1895.

It's been a week marked by sadness following the passing of Billy Campbell and Gordon Wallace. Gordon's death comes poignantly on the eve of a match between two clubs to which he gave such loyal service. I was grateful for the chance to write about him for the programme in 2020.

Gordon Wallace is featured in yesterday's match programme. Wallace was nicknamed 'Stubby' after one pre-season tour of Belgium. Apparently Wallace had such a fondness for cream cakes that it moved his teammates to warn he would end up looking like Stubby Kaye if not careful!

The postcard was issued by the Mercat Cross Bar at 26 South Lindsay Street, unfortuneatly that area is covered by the Overgate Centre, but the Mercat Cross is still in place by the Steeple on the high Street. Dundee would bring the Cup back to Dens the following April.
