Dementia Friendly Keighley

Last week DFK were at Long Lee Cubs running a Dementia Friends session. This can help children understand how they can support a grandparent with their dementia and breaks down fear and stigma. One day these little ones could be caring for you. @DementiaFriends

Today DFK attended South Craven Connect @glusburnarts It was an opportunity to meet other organisations offering a variety of services and support to the local community. We will be back in Glusburn on Wednesday with our Dementia Hub at 1pm

Today was our first #Dementia Hub at Glusburn Institute - Community and Arts Centre. The Hub is a way of meeting new friends in a supportive space. So if you or a loved one are living with Dementia drop in on a Wednesday between 1pm an 2.30pm. We look forward to meeting you

Shortly we are launching our Dementia Hubs based in community settings. The first locations will be Haworth, Oakworth and Glusburn and we are looking for new volunteers. If you have a lived or professional experience of Dementia and would like more information call 01535 602529

Wow what a busy day! The monthly event with Specsavers Keighley which is always great fun and raises awareness in the community. The centre was also lively this morning with great social engagement and peer support in abundance. #dementia

Yesterday DFK held its client Xmas Party, there was lots of home baked goodies and entertainment was provided by Nick and Rachael Ingram who sang for us. It was an amazing afternoon full of joy, laughter and dancing. #Christmas #Dementia

The volunteers were busy yesterday getting the Centre ready for #Christmas .We wanted it to look festive and welcoming for the Singing Group today. Gill will be leading the singing with a host of familiar seasonal songs followed by coffee and cake
