Paint on a Wall Changes Stock Prices I apologize for my lateness. I intended to release this at most 1 week after the previous one. Instead, more than 2 weeks have elapsed between the release of the previous article and this one. I didn't communicate this, and I can't fault anyone for not knowing that I am late. I felt it was warranted that I release something soon considering that I described a terrifying problem and failed to provide the solution. I don't doubt that I frustrated some people with what I wrote, but the only way to discuss how to fix the problem was by first identifying the problem. Unfortunately, writing and releasing both of these texts simultaneously would have taken much longer both to write and to read. I tend to have an acerbic sarcasm when approaching grisly topics. Since writing the previous piece, I've realized that this sarcasm cost said piece some clarity. The "elegant solution" to killing your own grandfather was said in jest. It's as elegant as scaphism. I consider the possibility of backwards time travel to be purely malicious. Any and all good is outweighed by the infinite nightmare that is an unreality where no action ever actually occurs, instead existing in a macroscopic superposition, or, otherwise, some incomprehensible state I refuse to indulge contemplation. Thus raises the question, how do you prohibit the manipulation of history via "boostrapping grandpa"? I find that the only way is if humanity were to invent time travel detection before it invented backwards time travel. The business of transmitting and recieving messages through time is subject to cryptography exploits and generated fakes made by bad actors. Considering that the software we have today is severely dwarfed by what will exist a mere year from now, this should make the idea of message transmission unfeasible. I knew this when I wrote my "tutorial for time travellers" in the previous post, but given that backwards time travel was already happening in that example, I couldn't suggest that time travel detectors save the day. My concept is that people detect a time machine in egress, then either nullify the time machine or forcefully send it to a place in the present where it is either destroyed or, if pacifism is practical, sent to a trial waiting room for criminal time travel. For now I'd like to describe the mode of correction being a beam of energy that pushes or attracts the time machine, but it may involve creating a fork wormhole. There is the potential for paradoxes in that those who monitor the time detection system at any point in time, whether right now or a thousand years in the future, should see the same thing. They should see either no backwards time travel, or they should see some backwards time travel in progress. They should also see the acts of nullification or rerouting of destination, which give them a guide on when exactly to engage their actions against the time travel attempts. A troubling prospect is that future time travellers will transmit phenomena which harm the efficacy of the detection system. False negatives could cloak a time machine as it passes through, and things which accidentally cause the detectors at one point in time to fail to see the acts of a past or future anti-time travel system, which causes both detectors to pull a time machine in 2 different directions; worse, it causes a system at one point in time to attack itself at another point in time. False positives could cause a system to exert energy on a nonexistent time machine while the real one is missed. Furthermore, there is the terrifying possibility of opening the detector for the first time to find that various acts of backwards time travel were successful and have effected the timeline. I haven't got the answers for this today, but I feel a responsibility to warn about these issues as fast as possible. Here are 2 possibilities: 1)Time travel detection inside this universe and at the present. People build the time detection system, make a measurement, and begin to scan. If they see an act of time travel is starting, they take action. The issue is that if the time travel successfully reaches a destination predating the present, it will have an impact on the system. 2)Time travel detection outside the universe. In a perfect world, time travel detection has always existed. The sentient agents of time travel detection are observing things right now, and have for all of time. This was elaborated on in Asimov's The End of Eternity, and was later used in the show Loki to depict the TVA. Both works of fiction portray the problem of such a system which overregulates the timeline, deliberately changing things instead of merely halting rouge travellers. The issue with preventing certain disasters is knowing what is useful enough to prepare humanity and teach important lessons. Both fictional examples also fail to depict a system that stops time travel in progress. On that note, I have only ever seen fictional examples of time travel policing wherein the police follow the time travellers. I have never seen an example where they simply destroy the machine while it's going through the 4th dimension, which I would consider the far easier solution. I feel that possibility 2) is the only functional possibility, while possibility 1) is much more likely to be developed first. Pocket dimensions and whatnot require a lot of math. With my little knowledge, I can't vouch for which to pursue. I hope to describe these ideas in more detail at a later date. For now, I would like to leave this precise topic scant but concise. It's too complicated and requires further thought, and I'd hate to make this article longer than it is. The following is devoted to something that must be understood prior to any further discussion of time travel detection. --------- This is the explanation of something I assumed was well understood by most people, but now realize is barely understood by anyone. I claimed "Merely altering the erosion process on a single square inch of paint on a wall should be enough to change stock market prices at some point in the future." Exactly how is that possible? The 1952 short story "A Sound of Thunder" was an early effort at explaining the issue of changing the remote past through any act of backwards time travel. Although it was considered hard science fiction back in the day, I feel that it would be less deserving of the moniker today. "Destroy a butterfly millions of years ago, and you'll change the spelling of the English language," is an understatement. Consider the story. Hunters step out of the time machine and open fire on a T-Rex. Seconds later, an aging tree finally gives way upon the T-Rex's corpse. The T-Rex originally died because of the tree, but in the changed timeline, it was killed by the bullets seconds earlier. We get an, in my opinion, comical scene where people pick the used projectiles out of the T-Rex. This shines a light on the point that someone made bullet holes, where none existed in the original timeline. Blood drips in places where it shouldn't have. Insects, fungus, bacteria, and other agents of decomposition will be impacted by the presence of this blood on the ground. Blood contains a lot of elements, like iron, in amounts which will be metabolized differently than that which comprises unmolested skin. Right off the bat, I can tell you that different insects prefer blood to rotting flesh and vice versa; thus the increased immediate presence of either has an impact on the populations of those which prefer blood and those which prefer flesh. On an even more technical level, numerous strains of different species of bacteria compete at the microscopic level whenever a larger organism dies, which carries an impact on the reproduction rates of each strain. These strains of bacteria both decompose dead animals and instigate diseases in live animals; a fact made apparent by the medical problems of those who kiss dead bodies. Blood on the ground is blood that is not inside the animal. Changing how quickly blood hits the ground thus changes exactly what bacteria feeds on the carcass, which changes how fast each strain of bacteria reproduces, which changes which mutations appear in those bacteria, which changes what bacteria infects nearby animals, which changes what diseases develop. The bullets squashed and tore the flesh in its path, breaking microscopic bonds that would have been broken at a different time by the decomposition process, and are we supposed to believe that only the projectiles were removed from the T-Rex, but not an iota of anything else? We haven't even gotten to the butterfly yet. If you can concieve of a butterfly's impact on the food web, you can dig deeper and concieve of a single bacteria's impact on the food web. None of this is discussed in the text, which treats these bullets, and the entire killing of a T-Rex seconds before it would have died, as negligible changes incapable of impacting the timeline. I hardly feel I was the first person to consider these things about the story, and I can see how a forensics technician would make some conception of how the bullets effect the decomposition process of the T-Rex, thus altering the timeline anyway. I give that even if Bradbury knew these finer points when he wrote the story, he shouldn't have written them in because it would be too technical and he was marketing to a larger demographic. Now let's consider the 2005 film adaptation. Hunters step out of the wormhole and watch a T-Rex become trapped in a tar pit. The hunters open fire and escape to the wormhole, but one person stepped on a butterfly, which sticks to his boot and travels to the future. Minutes later, a volcano erupts, killing everything in a large radius. Some of the people reviewing the film have claimed that because "the volcano erupts killing everything," they consider it a plot hole that killing a butterfly and removing it from the environment, which is about to get covered in layers of ash, changes the future. To that I say that discluding the corpse of the butterfly before the volcano erupts would create a microscopic discrepency in the elevation of a particular spot of the ground after the volcano has erupted. Furthermore, rain will eventually mix the ash and soil, creating a highly fertile environment where protozoa, fungus, plants and bacteria known as pioneer species colonize, before grass, flowers, trees, and so on. The molecules of the dead butterfly would have had an impact on this process. For that matter, the bullets fired into the T Rex certainly may have more of an effect than a missing butterfly. Of course, if we are going to get this anal retentive, you might as well admit that any birds, insects, and spores redirected by the prescense of the time travellers walking on the path will also have an impact on the soil, pioneer species, and biological recovery post-eruption. To put it simply, there is absolutely nothing that can not significantly change the future in 70 million years. Or for that matter, 5000 years. Prior to the existence of life on the planet Earth, every atom of solid, liquid and gas on the planet has an impact on the natural forces that ultimately create the chemical reaction that germinates life at an exact position and moment. In the 4 billion years that life develops into humans, every atom of solid, liquid and gas on the planet has an impact on reproduction, diseases, predators, prey, and other factors of evolution that ultimately germinates humans. In the 100,000 years that Homo Sapiens exist, every atom of solid, liquid and gas on the planet has an impact on the natural environment that these humans exist in, which leads to near death experiences, sexual contact, and thoughts. Thoughts influence language, clothing, religions, tribal conflicts, ideographic symbols that evolve into writing, and which plants are selected for human consumption. Each stroke of a cave painting and each notch made on a tree can influence a future writing system. In the 5,000 years since the birth of the written word, every atom of solid, liquid and gas on the planet has an impact on the temperature, air pressure, precipitation, background noise, and a massive list of characteristics that neither of us have the time to list off, each influencing the thoughts in a person's mind when they write. Behind every single word is a train of thought comprising past memories, present conditions and hopes for the future. When one person writes a word, hundreds, thousands, billions might read it. Someone might read that word 500, 1000, 2000, 3000 years later and do something based on what they read. Every time it is copied manually, every time it is copied with a printing press, every time it is copied on the internet, it might be paraphrased or translated with a specific word that may or may not give it justice. 5000 years ago, few wrote, but each word was repeated for innumerable occasions. Today, innumerable authors write simultaneously. There is no period of time where every single atom does not impact this very moment. You can't travel back to any point in time and do anything without changing anything. Let's consider an investor. He gets bored, rotates his head to face a blank wall, stares for 10 seconds, and swings back to gaze upon the markets. Exactly what is his next move? The subconscious imprint of that wall has an effect on every impulsive transaction. Every neuron that internalizes the memory of that wall, and every neuron that evaluates the following transactions, exist in the same brain. What is the sum total of influences on an impulse but the sum total of prior thoughts and stimuli? Every pit, land, ravine, groove, spot, and crease, forged by the strokes made by whoever painted the house, have an impact. The hue of the wall, eroded by air, effected by how often someone opened the window and released outdoor temperatures, effected by how often someone opened the curtains and released sunlight, have an impact on the trades the investor makes. Millions of people are one missed payment from homelessness or a fatal loss of coverage. Speculation, commodities, shorts, crypto, and prediction markets wrap every business and worker in a volatile vice. Scarcely a day passes where it is not the case that at least one individual life weighs on a penny. It only occurred to me the day after posting the previous article that my tutorial for any time traveller experiencing the "Millenium (1989) conundrum" suffers the severe fallacy that doing anything at all alters the present. Changing the past and sending a message to yourself to go back, will lead to either a different version of you, if not an entirely different person, going back to the past to replenish the cycle. That different version of you will do things differently, culminating in the subsequent version of you yet again being different from both previous iterations and thus doing something else slightly different. Even if one were to somehow communicate every necessary action perfectly, and the time traveller were to follow every communicated action precisely, there would be slight deviations in the position of legs, the tone of voice, and the appearance of the time traveller, and such deviations would carry over to every subsequent iteration, forcing everything into an uncertain state of macroscopic superposition. An exact copy of a person would have to be sent, and an exact copy of a person would have to be transmitted to the future to be sent back; or, a rerouting solution would need to be made. In short, these are major reasons that I feel it is imperative that backwards time travel is never allowed to occur, and why a time travel detection system may be important to develop. Once again, I hope to publish my circumspection of such hypothetical systems in greater detail at some point.

Bootstrapping Grandpa I have heard it said that the Grandfather Paradox has no solution. Much the same has reached my ears regarding the Bootstrap Paradox. Given these musings, I'd like to formally solve both at the same "time". If you go back in time to kill your paternal grandpa before he sired your father, and you strongly feel you won't regret it, all you have to do to solve the inherent paradox is leaving a message for someone in the future to go back in time and kill that same individual. An elegant way of ensuring that the following perpetrator, whom you've directed to kill the target, will do everything just as you had done, begins with you scanning your brain, as well as your entire physical form, right after travelling through time. After securing the scan, going to sleep, waking up, and killing the individual who would have been your grandpa, you must 3D print a duplicate of yourself, imbued with the exact brain that you had right after travelling through time. Travel back in time to a spot near where you remember having initially arrived in the time machine. Create an exact copy of your time machine, scans, and other possessions. Put your duplicate on the exact spot you were when you woke up. Stand back, and your duplicate will wake up, kill your grandpa, create a duplicate of themself with the scans you provided, travel back in time, create exact copies of their possessions, stand back, let their duplicate wake up, and so on. In reality, you once existed. You once had a childhood. You once lived. You went back in time and killed the individual that would have made this possible, only for your duplicate to kill the same individual in the way you had, then create another duplicate to accomplish the same task. A new timeline where a sourceless individual with fake memories, being instantiated, looks to an outsider like a bootstrap paradox. Where did they get the scans of themself? Where did they get the time machine design? They got it from the original timeline, which you destroyed. Alternatively, you could send a message to the future to get someone else to come by, kill the "non-grandpa", and send the exact same message in the exact same way that you had. This person would then send the same message, which should cause the same person to arrive, which should cause the same chain of events to repeat ad infinitum. Much the same as in the previous solution, an outsider would ponder the origin of the task to kill a random individual. It came, of course, from the original timeline, which you destroyed. The key here is to create a timeline that doesn't shiver. All manner of cause and effect must be precisely the same. If not, then you'll end up in a recursive loop of changing timelines, which means everything after the point of change is trapped in a quantum superposition. Nothing is certain, nothing is solid, Everything is wishy washy, very disgusting. I assume it would amount to something like the foolishness we see at the atomic level, extrapolated to the macroscopic world. Everyone would be phasing in and out. Frankly I've had to ask myself if it's a good idea to share these ideas. At the end of the day, if backwards time travel is developed, then the people developing it would end up with the same questions and potential solutions I have discussed here. The Grandfather Paradox and the Bootstrap Paradox have been well known for many decades. I don't doubt my points on how to "bootstrap grandpa" haven't been made in a slightly different way by someone else. The difference that my publication of this makes is that I may have given them more popularity so that said inventors have more "time" to think about them before embarking on such a dangerous project. --------- Let's take one of the worst time travel flicks as an example: Millenium (1989). Much of this film is rather serious with its time logic. The time travellers abduct people from past plane crashes right before they die and leave dead cloned bodies behind to squeeze all potential timeline changes down as little as possible. At the end of the film, a time traveller interacts with someone who was instrumental in the development of time travel. The time traveller asks the genius to give her back her laser, so the genius fiddles with it and dies. This is an "unsolvable paradox", so literally everyone in the future civilization tries travelling to the "far future" because they're about to be erased from existence. There is no making sense of this idea that the far future isn't equally subject to being erased from existence, the film just quits giving a damn. What should you do as a time traveller in this situation? The number one obvious solution is at least writing down the secrets of time travel that the genius was going to discover, which mitigates the absolute most extreme portion of the paradox. The next most obvious solution is travelling back in time to the guy died, then, request Mr Genius puts it down gently. Pick it up slowly, then send a message to yourself in the future at a point just before you went back, to go to the exact moment in time that you had, say the exact things you just said, and copy paste this exact message to be sent to yourself at the exact moment you had sent it. Then, go back to the future. Obviously things depends on whether or not he was supposed to have the laser at all, and whether or not you should just travel back to when you dropped the laser. The ability to identify historical details such as this are a matter of clarity I intend to elaborate upon in a later article. Regarding the finer details of travelling back to just before the guy died, one might interpret things such that now 2 of you are there (the original and the one who came back to prevent the death). It could be the case the only one of you is there because supposedly you've prevented your own existence, thus you never travelled back and now you're the only version of yourself. It could, of course, be the case that none of you are there, and you were destroyed instantly once Mr Genius died. I imagine one of you could be there if you really are going to bootstrap grandpa. Whether one of you are there, or two of you are there, the version of yourself that saw the death occur should send the message to the future. If there is a second, earlier version of yourself that was now prevented from seeing the death occur, you'll run into trouble simply telling them to go back and do the talking. Permitting such will cause minute but recursive changes in tone of voice, facial expressions, stance, and the movement of air molecules that bounce around and impact other molecules. Merely altering the erosion process on a single square inch of paint on a wall should be enough to change stock market prices at some point in the future. This is the rationale by which I recommend sending a message, which can be copied precisely and delivered at an exact time. As for what to do with this second version of yourself if it appears, I struggle to resolve the matter. I hope to come up with an idea soon.

NIGHTBORNE is the first full test AI film I have made. It was made using Seedance 2.0. I've been experimenting with AI for a couple of years, and it's now at the point where I want to tackle a full feature in this format. This is a 13-minute test start. It was made with real concept artists, and features the faces and voices of 32 real people. Imagine spending hours a day every day de-escalating violent people, who are in stressful scenarios, on drugs, and/or are severely mentally ill. How many of these people do something much worse after they run away? What you need to consider is the worst case scenario. This is a mentally ill individual prone to spontaneous yelling. It's not likely that they might do something worse, like hitting other people or destroying property, but they might if they get the chance. Worst case scenario, all it takes is one punch to kill someone. Furthermore, they might get into a dangerous position while trying to run away and accidentally get run over or fall to their death. The problematic individual should relax and deescalate. Running away could cause a problem. That's why the officer is scared.

The real problem is the electricity. Datacenters have been using an absurd and ever increasing amount of power. AVANT claims that, by 2030, they'll use double the amount they currently use. (43.6GWh->88.6GWh) In 2025, Goldman Sachs claimed AI datacenter use was only 15%. goldmansachs.com/insights/artic… However, I strongly disagree with this. Datacenter electricity use was stable for more than a decade but began rising sharply a couple years after the launch of OpenAI in 2015. Datacenter consumption went from 3% of all US electricity use in 2022, to 6% in 2025. It'll reach 9.5% by 2030 given the Economist's projections. economist.com/united-states/… This follows the trend we saw with AI writing as a percent of internet articles, from less than 0.1% in 2022 to above 50% in 2025. Combine this with AI videos, vibe coding, autonomous tech support, and all sorts of agents, and you can see how 3% turned into 6%. binghamton.edu/news/story/600… This has an impact on the cost of electricity for surrounding consumers, who, believe it or not, have been putting mattresses on their windows to cover up the noise. aol.com/articles/repor… The scale has no endpoint. If AI can develop advanced math, that implies it can create new ideas. How smart will it get soon? If it gets original and creative enough, then it would be able to develop recursive self improvement, where a better AI makes a better AI makes a better AI. This would germinate artificial superintelligence, which would most likely exterminate humanity to seize all of Earth's water, minerals and fuel sources. This is called instrumental convergence.
