For four decades, we’ve been told the age of hydrocarbons is over - and the 'transition' is a fait accompli. Yet, as conflict flares in the Middle East, the mask slips. We see clearly that today's modern world doesn't run on aspirations. It runs on the density of oil, gas and coal. It's a collision between a green climate agenda and harsh reality. The crisis narrative has already dismantled much of Western energy infrastructure and skewed our reality. This conflict is a hard lesson, highlighting the immediate need for raw high-energy security - and plenty of it. You cannot fight a war, feed a nation or sustain an economy on intermittent power when the chips are down. While the West has focused on dismantling the reputation of coal, oil and gas, the current crisis proves we haven't dismantled our dependence on them. When the Strait of Hormuz is threatened, the world doesn't look to renewables to keep the lights on. It looks for the high-density power only possible from raw hydrocarbons. Warring nations need urgent baseload power to build and move navies and fly fighter jets. While we scramble for the energy density required to protect our sovereignty, the very CO2 produced by that 'engine' is quietly fueling the greatest planetary greening event in 34 million years. Nature is far more pragmatic than our bureaucracies. Demand for high-octane energy just re-entered the room.

In Erinnerung an Nils Bruns vom Fallschirmjägerbataillon 373 aus Seedorf, gefallen heute vor 16 Jahren am 02.04.2010 in Isa Khel, Afghanistan - aber auch die Anderen natürlich. Drei Tote, acht Verwundete: Das Karfreitagsgefecht am 2. April 2010 bei Isa Khel in Afghanistan war der härteste Kampf, den Soldaten der Bundeswehr seit deren Gründung 1955 zu bestehen hatten. Ich war befreundet mit Nils und hatte eine wunderschöne, unbeschwerte Zeit mit ihm. Er wohnte nur wenige Kilometer von mir entfernt, seine Tochter ging mit meiner in die Kita. Bei seiner Beisetzung war kein einziger Vertreter der Regierung anwesend - die, die ihm erzählt hatten dass wir am Hindukusch unsere Freiheit verteidigen. Nur ein Kranz vom Verteidungsministerium lag dort. Es war einfach furchtbar, er hatte eine schwere Kindheit und Jugend, hatte sich aber gerade eine kleine Familie aufgebaut und ein Haus bezogen. Sein Leben war Deutschland 100.000€ wert, die Zahlung an seine Frau, dass er sein Leben gegeben hat. Derselbe Schlag Politiker will uns heute erzählen, dass wir unsere Sicherheit in der Ukraine verteidigen. Niemand, absolut niemand dieser kriegsgeilen Menschen würde jemals sein eigenes Leben riskieren. Aber andere in den Tod schicken ist natürlich kein Problem. Sie haben keine Ahnung, was das bedeutet für die Familie und Hinterbliebenen, und ich denke es ist ihnen auch egal. Ein Toter ist nur eine Zahl. Keiner von diesen korrupten, machtgeilen, egoistischen Idioten würde auch nur eine Stunde in einem Gefecht überleben, sie würden wahrscheinlich schon einen Herzinfarkt bekommen, wenn in ein paar Kilometern Entfernung ein Schuss abgefeuert wird. Sie lassen sich von PR-Agenturen in Uniformen fotografieren und denken sie wären die Größten und ein Teil der Truppe. Sie sind nichts, nicht mal das Schwarze unter den Fingernägeln. Ich selbst war auch im Kosovo, weil ich dumm, jung und naiv war. Und ich werde alles in meiner Macht stehende tun, dass keiner dieser Idioten eines meiner Kinder bekommt und dazu überredet, in einen Krieg zu ziehen. Ruhe in Frieden Nils.

Ich suche die 0.1% im deutschen E-Sports. Seit Jahren tritt nationaler E-Sport weitestgehend auf der Stelle. Es fehlt an Personen, die Projekte groß denken und wirklich etwas erreichen wollen. Weniger als 0.1% haben den nötigen Ehrgeiz, das Durchhaltevermögen und das Know-How. Ich suche diese 0.1%. Wir geben diese lustige - wenngleich einem Selbstständigen mit Angestellten gegenüber ziemlich dumme - Frage gerne mal an unsere Bubble weiter: würdet Ihr euch heutzutage "für 50-60K, also 4-5.000 EUR brutto pro Monat, für 8h am Tag irgendwo hinsetzen" oder lieber arbeitslos bleiben? Für uns ist die Frage rein rhetorischer Natur, für andere wahrscheinlich nicht. Offenbar scheint beim Urheber dieser Frage allerdings auch die Schaukel zu nah an der Wand gestanden zu haben.

If you’re interested, maybe we should write an interdisciplinary paper with other people in common sense about the current state and reflecting the past 25 years of climate armageddon crisis.

As things stand now, 37 years of global warming drama, of crisis events that never happened, of endless fund raising, endless doomsday forecasts, coal, oil and gas still provide 81% of primary energy use. That means nothing you or the UN said or did made the slightest difference. This charade is costing the world $9.2 trillion every year that passes. Eventually, it will cost $275 trillion (McKinsey, 2022) by the time of net zero in 2050, and nothing will have changed. What an appalling failure.

In this age of war our addiction to fossil fuels is destabilizing the climate, global economy & global security. Now more than ever, we must accelerate a just transition to renewable energy. Renewables deliver climate security, energy security & national security.
