The outcome of the war against the Iranian regime all depends upon the specifics of what gets agreed to at the negotiating table with the mullahs in the coming weeks, on everything from control of the Strait of Hormuz, to uranium enrichment, to sanctions, to whether U.S. combat forces will remain in the region, to the fate of Hezbollah.

@RockettLord IMO aerospace remains an "old boys network" more than other fields. But it was a lot worse when I started. The women who last and make a career out of it tend to be exceptional engineers. Any mediocre or sloppy engineers tend to be men. The margin of error for women is less IMO.

My graduating class of Aerospace Engineering at a university of 33k people was less 10% women.
My university prided itself in having a high percentage of women in engineering majors at 25% and that was largely due to a biomedical engineering program that had a 50% ratio.
I have been the only woman in an engineering department at two jobs.
Our work is not finished.
The STEM outreach is fantastic these days but the alctual engineering industry still has work to do

The women seem to outnumber the men in Mission Control and are a huge part of this Artemis mission. I don’t think we have a problem with women in STEM.

@JeremiahDJohns Maybe tech is a contributing factor but I don't think 80's kids were only listening to Madonna, Bon Jovi and Michael Jackson because we couldn't find any Buddy Holly or Bill Haley and the Comets. Also the Nov/Dec dip... I assume that's Christmas music we're seeing?

@DGSergent It's not anyone's fault. It's a consequence of changing technology and not the quality of any given musical generation.
Technology makes it easier than ever to access the global backlog across many genres - music, video games, books, etc. You see the same trend in every case.

I've written about this before, but it's remarkable how much older music is strangling new music.
And the same is true in books, movies, video games. Older media is taking up a bigger and bigger share of the market every year.

@jsguofo @unlimited_ls Nor am I convinced there's a ironclad right to use deadly force. In most states you can't start blasting simply because you're losing an ordinary fight. Only in reasonable fear for death or great bodily injury. Maybe after repeated blows to head but would be a gray area.

@jsguofo @unlimited_ls I'm curious why you mentioned "stand your ground." Doesn't seem to apply here. You're in a freeway median with cars whipping by. Even in a "duty to retreat" state seems easy enough to argue there was no safe way to retreat. (1/2)

@OldNewRight Georgia was attacked and remains partially occupied by Russia and Armenia was in conflict with Azerbaijan as late as last year. India and Pakistan threw hands last year as well. A very rough part of the world for sure.
