Denver auditor’s report on homeless encampment sweeps has been released. One major finding: City of Denver doesn’t really know or keep track of how much it’s spending in total on homeless encampment outreach and sweeps. City promises to develop calculation method by end of year.

They claimed that denser housing would help. Well... 70% of that proposed "density" was dropped via amendment. A bill that had plenty of potential has much less potential now. Got to wonder what other parts of this legislation will be shaved off. cpr.org/2023/04/18/col…

This is a horrible message. You can't arrest people just because they are poor.

@VicLombardi They are something for our city to spend money on instead of housing for our poor. They are more confusing than helpful in most cases and make it more difficult for tents to go up

Aware of the crack down on folks for sleeping outside? 1st Contact = ID and fingerprint for "tracking" purposes. 2nd = written warning + fingerprint. 3rd = citation/Arrest. Plus a stack of warrants carried to every encounter. Its a crime to be poor in Denver. Why? see below

@SarahdawnH @AndyKnny They will not build things we can afford w/o price controls. They have never done it in the past, why would they suddenly do so now? Developers and the politicians they purchase are not here for us... [profit] That is why price controls are needed., w/o them we all get shafted

@SarahdawnH @AndyKnny Less expensive housing will not occur naturally "due to market forces" as the developers claim. Especially if all you build is market rate and above. They just want to build as much as they can. IF they are going to build we need to have them build things we can afford.

We are gonna be covering this bill and its effects for years.
