The Hillcrest High School Library was recently featured on NBC DFW after book checkouts tripled following the implementation of a cellphone ban. Congratulations to Library Media Specialist Nina Canales at Hillcrest High School for helping create a library space where students are reconnecting with reading. Moments like this remind us that when distractions are removed, books naturally return to the center of student curiosity, learning, and discovery. The creativity first grade scholars show is amazing with hands on activities at Harrell Budd. I was in awe and very humbled at the talent. One student showed the depiction of mom's eye and the other placed black paper behind the face to create hair. Mother's Day is coming!
