@mfromin Hey Michael! The band name is Ax and the hatchetmen. David's brother's name is Nick and he plays the drums. Fun band. If you listen to alternative rock, you may recognize them, they got a lot of plays on Alt Nation on SiriusXM over the summer with the song "Blurry Lights".

@billbarnwell There's a less than 1% chance the Bengals fire Taylor. The Brown/Blackburn family may instead give him and Duke Tobin an extension, using injuries as an excuse for this season. The super bowl run in 2021-22 probably bought at least a decade for those 2. Expect the same next year

This is a good framing of what's happening. NCAA golfers can compete against pros as amateurs. NCAA tennis players can, too. What the NCAA will do this week is put men's hockey in the same basket as other NCAA sports. In doing so, CHL players will become eligible.

The recommendation to the Division I Council is to consider emergency legislation in their meetings Oct 8-9 (tomorrow and Wednesday) in regard to two specific bylaws with the intent to align the application of legislation in men’s ice hockey (and skiing) with all other sports...basically eliminating the bylaw: . "Ice hockey teams in the United States and Canada, classified by the Canadian Hockey Association as major junior teams, are considered professional teams under NCAA legislation.". Currently, in sports other than men's ice hockey and skiing,before initial full-time collegiate enrollment, an individual may compete on a professional team provided the individual does not receive more than actual and necessary expenses to participate on the team..

NCHC playoff format when St. Thomas joins in 2026-27 to make it a 10-team league will be like the old WCHA days, except the quarterfinal play-in, semis and final will be at home sites. QF play-in will be at site of No. 1 seed on Friday. Semifinal the next day.

@sweatystartup I must be missing something. Even if it was a $40 surcharge for each delivery (which would be shockingly high), $40 x 4 coffee runs + $40 x 3 lunches + $40 x 3 dinners + $40 x 3 mcflurries is $520 per week, x52 weeks is $27k. Where is the other $13k?

The NCAA also has expressed a desire to phase out single sport conferences, so I can't see them doing anything to discourage the only example of a "regular" conference with a presence in D1 hockey. Their desire to have only "regular" conferences outweighs the 50% rule

My guess is B1G hockey will keep playing with any number of teams if it feels like it, and the NCAA won’t dare say anything.
