NFSL members in return for substantial amount of money.  Our family resided in a suburb in Cairo beginning in 1984.  For several years, we believed Egypt was safe for Libyan diaspora community escaping Qaddafi’s persecution.  The night of March 12 in 1990 proved we were wrong.

Last week marked the 30th anniversary since the enforced disappearance of my father, Izzat El-Megariaf.  On March 12th in 1990, men who presented themselves as Egyptian intelligence officers asked that he accompanies them for routine questioning.

I was 5, my brother Youcif was 6, and the youngest of us Bashir was barely 40 days old.    My father was born in Benghazi, Libya on November 19th, 1952. He came from a simple traditional Libyan family.
