Ryan Abbott, Superintendent of DeKalb County Eastern CSD, values every opportunity to connect directly with his students. Through the district’s Book Buddy program, he visits elementary classrooms once a month to read a book aloud and leave it with the class to enjoy throughout the school year. These visits help build relationships and foster a love of reading across his entire school community! #LeadIAPSS

7 EHS juniors attended the BCA Career Academy at Ivy Tech for a hands-on look at careers in commercial construction. Out of 80+ students, only 6 are nominated by companies for professionalism & potential. Congrats to Elijah Hankey, Wyatt Shull, and Cole Omspacher! #DKE

Science came alive at Butler Elementary! Science Central visited our 4th graders with a hands-on lesson about electricity—teaching them about the famous scientists behind its discovery and how it powers our everyday lives. #DKE

Butler and Riverdale marked Kindness Month, and students did an incredible job spreading positivity. Many were “caught being kind”—showing compassion, helping others, and brightening someone’s day. #DKE

Butler Elementary’s Little Hoosiers Club stepped back to 1936 during a field trip to the Early Ford V-8 Museum—role-playing jobs, budgeting for a car they could afford, learning about Amelia Earhart, and even climbing into a Model T. A hands-on day bringing history to life! #DKE
