"Mass media are a powerful vehicle for teaching the art of the possible. Enlightened men must claim it as a space of their public voice, and create a progressive popular culture that will teach men how to connect with others, how to communicate, how to love." -Bell Hooks

This is a beautiful continuation to our mission in fostering learning spaces. Our theme in 2024 is Women of the Movement. We’ll be reading work by female writers struggling towards liberation! If anyone wants to sponsor the program by sending books or materials please let me know

I would like to thank Naquel Walker and collective justice NW for donating 25 copies of Assata to the B.P.C Literacy program. This Thursday we were able to hand out the books to our general membership and begin our book club.

@ChrisWBlackwell @DKJackson20 Really appreciated your writing @DKJackson20. Sent your piece to a couple people who will appreciate your perspective and also echo your call for more resources as well as decarceration in favor of trauma-informed care and community 🖤

Sexual abuse is often a taboo topic for men, especially Black men. Writing this article made me reflect & recognize the harm I've endured. Abuse affects entire communities, not just individuals. We cannot tolerate a society that protects abusers and silences survivors.

I was able to attend a Significant Women's event, and realized the difference a few articles of clothing makes. This was the first time in 15yrs I felt like a HUMAN BEING, and my mother had to opportunity to see me as a PERSON not a PRISONER!

Self hate is a lot different, when a person can't see the best in themselves. They can only see the worst in others. Where trust is absent skepticism exist. In the end how we think and feel about ourselves determines how we treat others

When you practice self love you begin to know the value of self and the value of others. Self love makes it hard to look at people and not see them as human. The most valuable resource we have on this planet is each other and our capacity to work toward a better future...
