Meet Paul Hill 💙 Paul is 49 and from Sparrows Point, MD. He spent the last 20 years working as a local tractor-trailer driver. When he is not on the road, he loves being out on the water fishing, crabbing, or cruising with friends and family. After being diagnosed with AML, Paul is now navigating a new journey. He wants to raise awareness about cancer and remind others going through a similar experience that they are not alone. His community has rallied around him and will host a Bull & Oyster Roast Fundraiser in his honor on April 11th. This Women’s History Month, we remember Mechtild Harf, the woman whose fight against leukemia helped inspire the founding of DKMS. ❤️ When Mechtild needed a bone marrow transplant, the German registry had only 3,000 donors. Determined to change that, her husband, Peter Harf, founded DKMS in 1991 with her physician, Dr. Gerhard Ehninger. In just one year, the registry grew to 68,000 donors. Although Mechtild did not survive, she asked Peter to promise one thing before she passed: never stop fighting until every patient has a chance to find a matching donor.
