I am wondering if the Detroit Lions have considered using Vaki at safety given all the injuries at the position. He was the starting safety at Utah and was pretty good at it. Has this been evaluated and considered?

@colton_pouncy Montgomery brings a lot to the offense. Having complimentry backs is necessary and smart. Without DM, Gibbs would be over used, leading to potential injury, and a shorter career. He is not a big guy, and last season running him into the middle repeatedly did not work well

@clarencehilljr It's possible the contract had things in it that were not acceptable. He was a significant majority of their offense so 4 million a year would be a bargain. Kickers usually don't add as much value as he does so pay him as the offensive contributer he is, not as a kicker.

The Cowboys have an offer on the table that would make Brandon Aubrey the highest paid kicker in the NFL, per source. As of now he wants more than they offered. That’s partly why a deal has yet to be done
