I’ll say this. If Crochet & Ranger make 1 better pitch (Crochet vs Correa, Ranger vs Xander), the Red Sox could be looking at a 4-5, not 2-7. Obviously still not great, but things look better at least. Shake some things up & get some energy, because early won’t be forever.

Ranger Suarez in his 2nd Red Sox start: 4 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 2 Ks Had it going through 3 shutout and flashed some leather but it fell apart in the 4th right after the Sox put up 4. He’s gotten pulled in the 5th both outings. 8.64 ERA thru two starts.

Ranger Suarez is going to need to be better if this Red Sox team is going to go anywhere. Saw it for 3 innings, but Alex Cora wasn’t playing around after the 4th. He knows the importance of them winning this game. Gotta clean it up.

The Red Sox announce that Johan Oviedo has landed on the IL with a right elbow strain, per @ChrisCotillo. His velocity had been down considerably over his last two outings. He also said after his Red Sox debut that he didn’t feel anything wrong physically.
