@Mr_Andrew_Fox I agree the number of uniforms need rationalising, which I believe they have already but this is ragebait over £200,000, that's peanuts most missiles cost way more than that.

@TheUCS473 That's the Modern Media/Political cycle now, New leader gets elected and suddenly there's a massive campaign to remove them for the headlines. This is as much Media driven as anything else.

Looks like a new PM is on the way. #6 in 10 years. A political class that hasn't got a clue and won't listen. Opposition parties practicing fantasy politics and an electorate that refuses to face reality. Next one will be worse and on and on it goes. Buckle up kids.

New followers won't know about turnips. Yet. Stick around til October and there will be lots of turnipy info. 😆. 31 Days of Turnip will return for 2026. Bet you can't wait..... You are safe until then though. I limit myself to talking about turnips to October. Mainly.

@JHCPAL You did really well to turn the conversation round to turnips. I was very impressed.

RFA sailors in Gibraltar, Devonport, Portsmouth, Falmouth and Birkenhead @RMTunion took industrial action yesterday (and will again on 13th May) as they continue to demand fair pay and conditions.

Reminds me of the tedious debates about who qualifies to call themselves a Geordie - which was historically applied to those from the coalfields of Northumberland & Durham (even Sunderland itself). But some now claim it should only apply narrowly to Tynesiders, or even just those from north of the Tyne. But who adjudicates these things? For me, it’s a matter of self-ID …

Actually enjoying some of the rampant denialism on show in the replies. Yes, strictly speaking, these are "wools". But these are also people who (mainly) speak like Scousers, who elect the LIVERPOOL CITY REGION Mayor, who live a 10 minute drive from LIVERPOOL JOHN LENNON AIRPORT & the car plants of Speke/Halewood. Liverpool City Council proper isn't up for grabs today – but if Starmer is leader in May 2027 you'll see the North Ends wards go the same way as Halton (to Reform), and the South End for the Greens/LDs. There's absolutely no question. Liverpool's "Leftwing" tradition is very misunderstood.

Think the concept of Scouse exceptionalism might be about to take a battering tonight

Classic Newcastle street scene. Merely moments later a wild-eyed and heavily bearded fella emerged from the ‘Clock’ (as the bar is known) wearing a tricorn hat like Captain Jack Sparrow. Please also enjoy the lad enjoying a smoke on his ‘beer scooter’.

Green Party candidate Tina Ion condemns "discriminatory language" and explains how, if elected to Newcastle City Council, she will have a "zero tolerance policy for anyone who uses harassment and bullying". Some may view these noble sentiments as incompatible with her also running a spoof Anne Frank Threads account that calls for Jews to be eliminated.

Francis Mauigoa report: Francis Mauigoa is an excellent right tackle with a dense – powerful – frame and light feet, with very good explosiveness and surprising fluidity for a player of his size. Mauigoa is crisp with his pass sets and varies his approach, with a devastatingly effective outside hand punch that gains control of the opponent’s chest – once that happens, best of luck! Mauigoa’s toughness and overall play strength are elite, and most tackles don’t possess his size + feather feet combination. Mauigoa is a high IQ blocker up front, constantly adjusting to pre/post snap defensive movement, while equipped to adjust to moving targets in space – his athletic ability is surprising when on the move. He can pull, does well in COMBO situations, can back-side scoop, or eliminate the front-side with down blocks; while also climbing well and erasing the pursuing linebackers. If Mauigoa had 35-inch arms, he would be discussed more consistently in the top-five, rather than one who MAY be selected there.  The re-signing of Jermaine Eluemunor shouldn’t preclude the Giants from exploring Mauigoa, for the veteran has the versatility to play inside. Yes, the Giants have other issues, but if they want to get smart, tough, and dependable in the trenches, then Mauigoa would be a wise selection at five.
