@DM__MIA And it’s ironic that, of the 2 playoff berths (2020, 2023) in the new stadium, the fans couldn’t even come to one of them (2020, pandemic). 2023 was the closest thing to achieving all 3 criteria. Also doesn’t help to have negative run differential every year of the new stadium.

It’s so predictable, all the time. Marlins have a chance. Marlins score one to satisfy some but leave a bunch on (include whatever reason you want as to why), next inning the game is turned and done.

@JeremiahGeiger2 @j7142128h I agree. They need to stop this shit. Players are never going to grow like this. Also, Id take a Hicks vs LHP at bat any day of the week over some of these righties hitters. Hicks is batting too damn low

@FernSig01 I just don’t know what they’d benefit from lying about that. Bendix and McC (even as recent as today on a podcast) have been super consistent that lineup and BP management is McC entirely (although I’m sure they discuss it pregame)

@DM__MIA It’s coming from the top because the top allowed the additional 25 analytic coaches to essentially run the team. I whole heartedly agree with you that if you had a Francona style manager the potential of this roster, you maximize what Bendix was able to find.

- Caissie starts the year scorching hot? Sit him a whole series - Sanoja gets hot, hits a grand slam? Sit him the next day and ninth the day after - Marsee gets hot? Sit him two days in a row At this point you have a better chance of playing consistently if you play poorly…

I fully grasp I’m being miserable but I’m simply a big fan of playing your best hitters is all.

@FernSig01 I don’t blame him, tbh. I believe them when they all say the lineups aren’t coming from up top and that the BP decisions aren’t coming from up top. I think you give this same roster to Francona or someone of that ilk and they’re .500 or better

@LeftfieldProf My issue, truly, is that there are very identifiable moments in this season where Player XYZ performs well, Player XYZ gets benched due to handedness, Player XYZ no longer performs well. Cause momentum and consistency is a real element of baseball and Miami doesn’t believe so.

@DM__MIA I agree that some lineups have been poorly constructed. But the bigger picture of player performance does not support your overall narrative. Maybe one or two games does.

Thread: Do with this Sports Psych research what you will, each tweet comes with its’ own citation to a study. Cutting edge and doing things differently means very little when it stares directly into the face of replicated established MLB research.

@LeftfieldProf It would be one thing if Caisse (just to use him as an example) was a 30 year old vet and we knew what he was. But these guys are all 1st and 2nd year players for the most part, let them play and fail instead of taking the bats out of their hands.

are too rigid in their splits and preassumed lineup and don’t seemingly take into account any level of rhythm or momentum. There should be a balance here, and there very clearly isn’t. They have come into the season with a preassumed plan of their players limits and haven’t adjusted.

@demorizi_eddie Ahh yes, this is true! 😂 I like to think that the galaxy brain piece here is that they’re really just using Hicks as a pseudo-leadoff guy here with the intention of Sanoja being the two hole when the lineup turns over.
