@crechem I appreciate your attention to factual detail, but my point was more that Brothers was saying, "You have a chance to be a trailblazer." And Devaux responded by essentially saying, "You, yourself, have been a trailblazer." I thought that was nice.

@DNFWing Except she claimed Donna had won a triple crown race, which of course she never did. She meant Julie Krone. Donna could have noted that.

Very classy move by Cherie Devaux to pay tribute to Donna Brothers while they were together during the walkover.

Not sure there is a better post-race interviewer on TV than @JoaquinJaime_ No "How rewarding is it to win the Kentucky Derby?" type questions.

@ahickman2 I couldn't really make out what she was saying. Thought it was that she was the first woman to *ride* in a TC race(?)

@DNFWing Not really. She credited her as being the first woman to win a TC race.

R.J. Barrett three at the end was ridiculous on a number of levels.

Cleveland-Toronto is really ugly basketball. Neither team deserves to win.

Silent Tactic (bruised foot) to scratch from Kentucky Derby, per Mark Casse. Hoping to make Preakness. This puts Great White in.

@mike_petriello Sometimes when a slight adjustment coincides with better results (hitter or pitcher), the corresponding increase in confidence winds up being a much bigger contributor to future success than the adjustment itself.

One interesting thing about Kazuma Okamoto, who's been hitting the ball a lot better over the last week ... last weekend in Arizona, he moved six inches further back in the box, where he's remained since.

I appreciate that Churchill Downs gets its Oaks Day and Derby Day morning line odds out quickly rather than waiting several days after the draw like some other tracks do.

@HorseToWatch I wonder if having a fellow closer (Albus) breaking next to him in the 2-hole is another small negative for Renegade in this circumstance. Might he have a little less room to maneuver in the early stages?

Hit Show and Citizen Bull got exactly the trips they wanted breaking from the 1-hole, and Mo Donegal and Known Agenda got the trips they were destined to get from any post since they just lacked early speed.

If you watch back the Kentucky Derbies using the new starting gate, you don't see horses breaking from the rail having more trouble than those breaking from other posts. Really only Dornoch was significantly hindered by it. The old double-gate was a different story.

@HorseRacingKK I can't remember...are early scratches for the four Saturday races announced ahead of closing time for the bet on Friday?

One of my favorite bets next weekend: the two-day $1 Pick 6 comprised of Grade I races across Oaks and Derby days. Sequence includes Friday’s La Troienne, Kentucky Oaks and Saturday’s American Turf, Churchill Downs, Old Forester Bourbon Turf Classic and Kentucky Derby.
