the audience that listens to rap is very divided, there’s so many sub genres of rap that it’s very difficult to stay in rotation for a long time because newer artists will always sound more “fresh” to listeners I think that’s also why you see some rappers prefer to be called artists because they’re scared of being boxed into the genre People like don toliver, yeat, have had longer careers because they dabble in a few different genres
