Dear Penny — My husband and I recently bought a house. In the flurry of paperwork, I didn’t realize that he had applied for the loan in his name only. I’m on the title with him, but not the loan. How mad should I be? ow.ly/fEs830sInX5

BBC and CNN are in panic mode after one of their main sources in Gaza was caught by Israeli soldiers. As you can see in this short video, during the interrogation of Islamic Jihad spokesperson Tariq Salami by Israeli security forces, he explained that the media in the west approved Hamas' terms regarding international coverage of the conflict. According to these terms when Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists fire rockets into Israel but end up hitting civilian targets inside Gaza like hospitals, civilian buildings or schools, it’s Israel’s fault and because Israel’s existence provokes the Palestinians resistance, rocket fire and terror attacks. Further to that, when Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists use the civilian population in Gaza as human shields by hiding inside hospitals or firing rockets from schools, Israel has no right to target the terrorists or rocket launchers because it is a war crime to target schools or hospitals. In order to illustrate the mutual relations between Hamas, the Islamic Jihad and the international media, Tariq admitted that the explosion in Gaza’s Al-Ma'mdani Hospital at the beginning of the war was caused by an Islamic Jihad rocket that didn’t cross the border into Israel. Despite the fact that the rocket was fired by the Palestinians the media and Hamas agreed to knowingly blame Israel for the war crime. Because it was Israel’s existence that provoked the rocket firing by Gazans. Tariq also described how Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists use the Shifa Hospital compound and even its medical equipment in order to shield Palestinian terrorists under international laws and prevent Israel’s airstrikes. According to him, when Hamas uses ambulances to transport its terrorists into and out of the Headquarters which are located within Gaza’s hospitals, Israel has no right to target the ambulances or hospitals because it will be reported as a war crime by the Hamas Ministry of Health and international media.

Lost my AirPods a couple weeks ago and haven’t had time to get new ones. I’ve had to workout and practice with no music or podcast to distract me. To my surprise, there’s been a lot of benefits. A thread🧵 :

Inspiring confidence in Palestinian allies: That I have emerged as one of the most consistent anti-Hamas voices within the Palestinian community has created immense interest in what I have to say from many in the Jewish and Israeli communities. The problem, however, is that at my core, I am extremely pro-Palestine and deeply committed to advocating for Palestinians’ right to freedom, independence and sovereignty. When I criticize the Israeli government’s actions and those of Netanyahu and the far-right ministers that have exacerbated settlements in the West Bank and the military occupation, the same allies and friends who were willing to engage in dialogue often turn against me and quickly dismiss all the common ground that I thought we had previously established. Some act as though any criticism of Israel is perfectly off-limits and that Israel is somehow a perfect entity that can do no wrong. This very quickly makes me think that many of these allies may not be as authentic as I had hoped they would be. Worse, it makes me feel as though I am merely being tokenized as a Palestinian who is against Hamas and that some of my “convenient” views are of interest while the rest are immediately shut down. This dynamic is precisely why so many Palestinians, especially in the English-speaking diaspora, do not speak out against Hamas and Palestinian internal problems and mistakes because they don’t want their words to be tokenized by the Jewish community for a very narrow end and goal. I am pleading with my Jewish and Israeli friends and allies who are interested in engaging Palestinians to please be cognizant of this. The goal should not be to agree 100% of the time; instead, it is to create a space where healthy, respectful, sincere, and detailed exchanges can take place unhindered. Most importantly, getting more Palestinians to speak out requires Jewish allies to be sensitive and aware of their actions and how they are not inadvertently or carelessly pushing away potential Palestinian friends who could be vital partners in forging a different path forward based on empathy and mutual recognition. I implore the Jewish community to grow more comfortable in hearing Palestinian critiques around Israeli policies regarding the military occupation of the West Bank, settlements, policies around Gaza, and the conduct of the war, dehumanization, and abuse that Palestinians have endured for generations. Of course, there have been numerous mistakes committed by the Palestinian national project and Palestinian leadership. There have also been horrendous terror acts and crimes committed against Israelis by Palestinians, and many within Palestinian society want to stand against these persistent failures. Yet it is incumbent upon my Jewish brothers and sisters to be part of the empowerment of moderate Palestinian voices who are there and ready to be part of a better future but need some nurturing and support. This will require agreeing to disagree and not having to say something every time you hear an opinion with which you disagree. A better future awaits all of us if we will it and work towards it. Dialogue and conversations must always be a two-way street, even when they are uncomfortable and unpleasant.

They could have been our neighbors, we could make the region flourish. They could have a state of their own, prove that they're aren't keen on killing Jews and get more power. They chose war instead. 76 years of occupation? I don’t think so. More like 76 years of starting wars, looting, killing, and kidnapping of Israelis by Palestinians. Thank you for reading. I don’t think that those who praise the “resistance” or Hamas truly grasp the unbelievable criminality of what the Islamist terror group has just done and will continue to do. Executing six unarmed human beings in cold blood at point blank to avoid having them freed is the definition of vile, evil terrorism and inhumanity. Remember the hordes of people who refused to call them Israeli hostages, instead referring to them as “prisoners”? Those six people, men and women, were innocent individuals who were used as human shields, meant to be bargaining chips, but were sentenced to death if the intended goal of their capture failed – the very definition of hostage-taking. This is dishonorable behavior that is cowardly, embarrassing, and extraordinarily shameful. In addition to holding Israeli hostages, Hamas has held millions of Palestinians in Gaza captive to its nefarious agendas and chronic failures, which have set the urgent and just aspirations for freedom and independence back by decades. The killing of Hersh, Ori, Eden, Almog, Alexander, and Carmel isn’t just a painful tragedy for Israelis; it is an equally horrendous catastrophe for the people of Gaza, worsening their dehumanization and prolonging their suffering.
