The conversation is changing. A few weeks ago, the push for permanent DST was almost entirely about “more evening daylight,” “ending clock changes,” and claims of economic or recreational benefits. Now look at what’s happening. The pro-DST lobby has become noticeably more defensive. Instead of simply promoting later sunsets, they’re spending much of their time trying to rebut concerns about late winter sunrises, circadian health, children’s safety, and even the failed 1974 experiment. That’s not an accident—it suggests these issues are finally breaking through. Supporters are also ramping up their advocacy. They’re encouraging people to contact senators, amplifying the same talking points across social media, and trying to keep the momentum alive after the House vote. But the Senate conversation is different. Senators are no longer treating this as a simple “stop changing the clocks” bill. They’re asking harder questions about dark winter mornings, biological timing, school safety, and long-term health. That’s a very different debate than we were seeing just weeks ago. When an advocacy campaign shifts from promoting its own message to defending against yours, it’s often a sign that your arguments are gaining traction. Keep sharing the science. Keep contacting your senators. Keep correcting misinformation respectfully and with evidence. The debate has changed—and that’s progress.
