Pre-releasing tracks ruins the album experience. Fans overplay them, and the mix of fresh and overplayed tracks kills the magic.

TONE PACKETS: Something innovative here, and free, please share widely among music app devs who work with chords and scales! Tone Packets is a new way for music apps to share chords and scales using SysEx messages, created by my buddy @dcollett with Greg Riker, Paul Barnard (4 Pockets), and Marek Palka (Just Chords). It improves on traditional MIDI in three main areas: real-time performance, accuracy, and compatibility. In this post I will explain in very simple, clear terms what this protocol does and why it is useful. There is a link you can use to find the detailed protocol info in the tweet below. Real-Time Performance Regular MIDI sends each note one by one, which can cause timing issues. Tone Packets send all the notes of a chord or scale together in one packet, so they arrive at the same time, making live performances and recordings more precise. Accuracy Traditional MIDI sometimes gets complex chords wrong because it relies on recognition algorithms. Tone Packets use predefined descriptions of chords and scales, so the receiving app understands the musical structure correctly. Compatibility and Efficiency MIDI is mainly for individual note transmission, needing extra processing to interpret chords and scales. Tone Packets send these structures in a compact, standardized format, reducing processing work and simplifying app development. This makes different music apps work better together. Tone Packets include over 250 carefully chosen chords and scales. Users can also define their own Tone Clusters—up to 24 notes spanning two octaves, sent together in one packet. This allows for custom definitions of any chord, scale, or cluster. TLDR: Tone Packets improve MIDI by offering better timing, clear musical structure, and efficient data transmission, making them a useful tool for both users and developers in the music tech space. For more details and to download the protocol, check out Greg’s post on the ABF, linked in the tweet below. If you're a dev or a music app user, please retweet etc so that word of this spreads, as everyone would benefit from this being widely adopted, let's get the word out 🔥

@Nikolozi Normally 48KHz but it do like 96. The higher the better in terms of fidelity, especially for effects processing and studio master. I’m kinda old school, so for me even chiptunes and lo-fi stuff is cool. It’s context of end result perception.
