📍Mogadishu | .@SobsSomalia today convened a stakeholder workshop to validate the agency's 5-Year Strategic Plan (2026–2030). Supported by #HoADRIVE, this strategic roadmap aims to modernize our national standards to protect consumers and unlock global markets for Somali exports.

DG @MohamedSDalmar today opened the High-Level Fodder Value Chain Linkage Workshop in Mogadishu, calling for joint government–private sector action. With current feed supply meeting only about two-thirds of national livestock needs, scaling commercial fodder is now a priority.🌾

H.E Minister @HassanEeley met delegation from @BenadirUniv led by Rector Dr. Bidey to strengthen cooperation in livestock education. Talks focused on building human capital, upskilling #Somali youth and aligning university programs with sector needs to support jobs & production.

HoA DRIVE Somalia team successfully concluded a two-week Project Implementation Support Mission that brought together teams from @WorldBank and regional partners (#Somalia, #Kenya, #Ethiopia, and #Djibouti) to review progress, discuss challenges, and set priorities for the year ahead. Led by Sonia Plaza, Task Team Leader for #HoADRIVE Somalia, discussions took stock of key initiatives under the project, including the Somali Livestock Identification and Traceability System (#SOMLITS), the unified digital export and animal health certification system, the planned National Reference Laboratory; trade facilitation reforms such as the #NTFC, #STIP, Export Promotion Strategy, the National Single Window System; and livestock insurance and resilience mechanisms supporting pastoral communities. A major highlight was a learning field trip to the Djibouti Regional Livestock Quarantine. This gave the team practical insights into how regional trade operations work, which will directly inform and strengthen Somalia’s livestock export systems.

📍Mogadishu | @MoLFR_SO & @FAOSomalia convene gov't & private-sector partners for a roundtable on Hand-in-Hand Initiative dairy & fodder agenda. Discussions will shape investment pathways for better feed, cold chains and stronger market linkages across Somalia’s livestock sector.

H.E. Adan Mohamed, Deputy Minister @MoLFR_SO, led Somalia’s delegation at the IGAD Ministerial Meeting on Transhumance and Livestock. He reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to the IGAD Transhumance Protocol, regional strategies for improved market access & livestock transformation.

DG @MohamedSDalmar met with @FAOSomalia to strengthen collaboration on food system transformation. The meeting focused on aligning Country Programming Framework with @MoLFR_SO & NTP priorities, improving capacity and advancing nationally led pathways for sustainable development.

The Ministry of Livestock, Forestry and Range, with support from #HoADRIVE @DRIVESOM, is rolling out nationwide training for Port & Border Point Veterinary Officers to strengthen inspection capacity, data management & sharing, and compliance with export procedures and standards.

During H.E. President @HassanSMohamud’s official visit to Algeria, Minister @HassanEeley signed a cooperation agreement with H.E. Yacine Oualid, Algeria’s Minister of Agriculture (@Madr_algerie), on livestock exports within broader bilateral efforts to advance shared dev't goals.
