Rest isn’t the absence of effort. It’s the end of trying to be your own god.

They Called It Fire, a Whisper, and Awe - Here’s How It Feels to Me. Have you ever felt like your mind and spirit were already through the door, and all that was left was convincing your body to follow? Have you ever stood afraid or nervous, but the moment you opened your mouth, it sounded like you were exactly where you belonged? Have you ever felt so compelled to speak that you physically had to cover your own mouth just to keep it from coming out? Have you ever walked in alone but felt surrounded by something bigger than you? Some people will tell you how Jeremiah described it - like a fire shut up in his bones, something he couldn’t hold back even when he tried. Others will point to Elijah, who expected God in the wind and the fire… but found Him in a quiet whisper that only came after everything went silent. David talked about it like his whole body crying out, not just his soul - like God’s presence was felt in flesh and breath. Isaiah said standing in it made him feel undone, exposed in a way that stripped him of every defense. Ezekiel described it as something that entered him and lifted him to his feet when he didn’t have the strength to stand on his own. Peter felt it so strongly he asked Jesus to step away - not out of fear, but awe. What we’re all trying to describe is the presence of the Lord. That moment when He overwhelms any illusion of control you thought you had. That organic surge of joy - the kind that makes you laugh, cry, or shout without planning to. It’s the feeling that’s been traveling through time since the beginning of time… and somehow, it’s still knocking on the door right now. #GodsPresence #FaithJourney #LivingScripture #StillListening #Witness
