Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has announced that Delta State was recently ranked among the top 10 in the 2025 Governor’s Accountability and Transparency Index by independent online media editors, an achievement that reflects thorough assessment and credible validation. A renewed push for fairness, transparency, and accountability in Nigeria’s tax system took place at Government House, Asaba, as Governor Sheriff Oborevwori received the Pioneer Tax Ombudsman of Nigeria, Dr. John Nwabueze, on his first South-South engagement. Dr. Nwabueze outlined the Office of the Tax Ombudsman’s mandate, established under the 2025 tax reforms, as an independent platform to resolve tax disputes, protect taxpayer rights, and strengthen trust, announcing Asaba as a regional base and highlighting Delta State’s strategic economic position. Governor Oborevwori welcomed the initiative, reaffirming Delta State’s commitment to fiscal reforms that promote fairness, ease of doing business, alignment with the National Tax Reform framework, curbing multiple taxation, and full support for the Ombudsman’s effective take-off. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda is transforming Delta’s healthcare landscape with intention and impact. Key investments are expanding insurance access, strengthening primary care, equipping facilities with modern technology, upskilling health workers, and providing better protection for mothers, children, and frontline personnel. Healthcare in Delta State is recognized and treated as a shared public good, not a luxury.

Four suspects have been arrested, three kidnapped victims rescued, and four firearms with 14 rounds of ammunition recovered in coordinated, intelligence-led police operations across Delta State. The operations, carried out in Ughelli, Asaba, and Issele-Uku, led to the arrest of suspected cult leaders linked to a January 15 murder case, the apprehension of a suspect at a criminal hideout with illegal weapons, and the successful rescue of victims during a joint security effort. Investigations are ongoing, with efforts intensified to apprehend fleeing suspects and sustain security across the state.

Since taking office, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has recruited over 2,000 teachers across primary and secondary schools, a deliberate step to improve learning outcomes and ensure students receive the attention they deserve at every level. Primary and secondary education remain a constant priority because they form the foundation for future success.

The Governor noted that the strategic road links several communities across multiple local government areas, significantly reducing travel time and improving access for agriculture, commerce, and social development. He emphasized that infrastructure development is key to enhancing livelihoods and integrating rural areas into the broader economy. Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to equitable development, Governor Oborevwori stated that the project reflects government’s resolve to ensure no part of the state is left behind, regardless of terrain or location. Strengthening Power Supply Across Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is taking decisive steps to address electricity challenges through the Delta State Electricity Law and ongoing infrastructure upgrades. Key projects include new power lines, transformer installations, substation upgrades, and rehabilitation of major networks across several communities. The goal is clear: reliable electricity for homes, businesses, and communities across the state.

Real development is not just promised, it is planned, approved, and delivered. Recently, the Delta State Executive Council approved infrastructure projects valued at over ₦400 billion, covering critical roads, development works, and other key sectors across communities in the state. These projects are designed to improve connectivity, strengthen public infrastructure, and drive economic growth across the 25 Local Government Areas. Under the leadership of Sheriff Oborevwori, the administration continues to take deliberate steps to expand development and ensure that the benefits of progress reach more communities across Delta State.

While improvements continue in other sectors across the state, the Delta State Executive Council recently approved Obedigbo Afor Road and its spur to Obi Palace Road in Ndokwa East, giving the community smoother, more reliable access. In 2025, the Council also approved the Delta State Electricity Policy, a major step toward reliable, affordable power. The MORE Agenda continues to improve infrastructure, expand opportunities, and build systems that support long-term growth for all Deltans.
