It is a broken Christianity that says “God protected him!” when a president survives and “thoughts and prayers” when school kids die. A god who only protects the powerful and not the vulnerable is an idol.

One of the biggest lies we Christians have come to believe is that the best and most effective way to address the pressing issues of our time is to gain more control over others rather than become more compassionate towards others. This is the opposite of the gospel of Jesus.

Paula White comparing the president to Jesus was met with applause. The Pope calling for peace and ending the war was met with condemnation. Beware of any Christian movement that measures loyalty to God by loyalty to the president.

Complaints about the Pope not staying in his theological and spiritual lane ring particularly and offensively hollow when Hegseth and co repeatedly lift scripture out of context and misapply it in a vain effort to sacralize and Christianize violence and war.

Last couple of weeks have revealed that Christian Nationalists don’t really want to hear about what Christianity might have to say to nations.

No. That image and Paula White in the role of chief faith advisor (and a great many other blatantly terrible things) are what happens when Christians repeatedly choose the walking antithesis of our values for the promise of proximity to political power.
Allie Beth Stuckey@conservmillen

That image is what happens when Paula White is your personal pastor and people around you are continually comparing you to Christ. Trump desperately needs to understand the bad news that precedes the Good News: you are a helpless sinner in desperate need of a Savior, as we all once were.

It’s not that many evangelicals are consciously choosing Trump over Jesus. It’s more subtle than that. They’ve come to believe that Trump’s way is not fundamentally at odds with the way of Jesus.

In his response to Trump, Alex Jone said “I’m a Christian, but I’m not Christ-like” That pretty much sums up the times we’re in.

Extremely funny coming from this DOJ, where it's so well-known that merit is irrelevant to getting jobs that Liberty University's law school sent around a message to students telling them "GPA is not a strong factor" for a DOJ internship because what matters is Trump support.

“Merit drives promotion and opportunity. Not someone’s sex or race,” said Associate Attorney General Stanley Woodward. “Today’s settlement proves this Department’s commitment to ensure companies are not using taxpayer funded work to further woke unconstitutional practices in American workplaces.”

Paula White is proof that massive corruption and spiritual fraud exist in highly connected Christian-named political power-players. How can she last in a community of leaders who are supposed to represent Christ to the world? Answer: Massive corruption and spiritual fraud.

For the Wolfe-Rice-Ascol-Buck Coalition, which is sizable, and maybe the majority in the current SBC, to object to any single word, or idea spoken by J. D. Greear here is repugnant to the overwhelming majority of Black Southern Baptists. I remember when the gatherings of the SBC felt warm, inclusive, inviting, welcoming, hopeful, and mutually reciprocal in respect, fairness, and opportunities for a seat at the table. Wolfe’s vision and version of the SBC feels like a Christian Nationalist MAGA Rally, that’s repulsive, alienating, offensive, and non relatable/compatible with the vast majority of Black people. There is no valid reason for Wolfe-Rice, or anyone else to object to Greear’s inclusive and empowering vision expressed here.

Fellow SBCers: we need to keep this garbage out of our convention.
