I know it's not quite Strait of Hormuz level, but on top of all the other bad news around this is most unwelcome!

@WelsbyElton Crompton reading a Football Pink! That takes me back.

I love this! The cultured Gerald Sinstadt meets Colin Crompton in Kick Off's Christmas show. Support provided by @WelsbyElton.

@judyjarvis this was your job at one time. "Goodnight from all of us at TVS!"

I wrote this about TV continuity announcers - link below -
Lunsford's Cross, England 🇬🇧 English

@MarkRossdog @OldRoberts953 Channel Four did briefly but soon went out of vision. Yorkshire abandoned in vision shortly after starting in 1968.

@OldRoberts953 Great piece. Was it only ITV where they had the CA on screen sitting in a chair? I vaguely remember those.

@OldRoberts953 @MatthewGreenf11 I can tell some stories about Regional TV continuity announcers .. not on here tho 🤣

@WelsbyElton Same occasion but this was before Truss arrived. No wonder she was smiling.
Lunsford's Cross, England 🇬🇧 English

I'm pretty sure that was when she met Liz Truss.
That's enough to finish anyone off.....

She wouldn’t stand down and give in to the pressure from Charlie to become king she held out to her last breath. She died 2 days after this photo was taken RIP 😢 Deep down she knew.

Delighted to say that Playfair is published today. Thanks to all at @headline for getting it into the shops so soon after I finished work on it. And good luck to all @CountyChamp fans for the start of the season tomorrow. I hope the Annual keeps you company throughout!

It's lovely that in these days of digital media, folk at @spectator and @PersephoneBooks make such an effort to produce beautiful physical reading material such as these. Starting 'Long Live Great Bardfield' today.

@Madz_Grant @michaelgove Great piece and the cover does it justice.

Very honoured to have written the cover piece this Easter, about the revival of religion – for better and worse – in British politics

@SaucySeventies A fan of both at the time, albeit for different reasons.
Lunsford's Cross, England 🇬🇧 English

@CameronYardeJnr He finished a piece to camera, about railways, on a bridge and as soon as he finished a train came through.
Even the presenter, whom I won't name (you can guess) said "how on earth did he do that?!"
Lunsford's Cross, England 🇬🇧 English

@CameronYardeJnr I don't think Burke is trying to pretend its a single shot, to be fair.
Buerks' is also good. The best example, and I doubt it will ever be found, is by the late Nick Clarke, on Look North (as it then was) Manchester.
Lunsford's Cross, England 🇬🇧 English

Excellent but you can see it's two shots. James Burke still had to get the 2nd one exactly right with the rocket. Michael Buerk's link to camera as a train pulls in might be technically superior. Two of the cleverest links to camera by a pair of Burkes/Buerks! The irony!
Vala Afshar@ValaAfshar
James Burke's perfectly timed shot on television in 1978 is hailed as one of “The Greatest Shot In Television History”
