An interesting read in the first of a series highlighting the benefits of good design to the regeneration of town centres from @ArcDesSco. Spotlighting the development of the Linen Quarter in Dunfermline, the blog looks at how the design-led approach improved safety, encouraged further investment in the area and increased rental options for people looking to live in the town centre all whilst retaining the character of the original listed building.

Looking for positive, inspiring governance news this week? Then well worth reading just published @ScottishLandCom & @CLESthinkdo work on natural resources! Key principles around purpose, innovation, participation, will be vital to informing climate driven changes. #LandReform
Scottish Land Commission@ScottishLandCom

🌍 Land is our most valuable natural resource. But the way we use and value land is changing to meet the twin challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss, whilst supporting our vital farming and forestry sectors. This rapid change calls for innovative and responsive approaches to how we own, manage, and use land, balancing needs and ambitions with delivering wide public, community, and private value. Research by @CLESThinkDo for the Commission looked at various governance models in Scotland and abroad, offering valuable lessons for land governance. The report, and summary that looks at lessons for Scottish land reform, are both available now on our website. landcommission.gov.scot/news-events/ne…

Some thoughts from me in today's @ScotNational drawing on our @ScottishLandCom research. There are ways to better tax land value but there is groundwork needed for lasting reforms.
Scottish Land Commission@ScottishLandCom

In @ScotNational today, @HamishTrench sets out the steps that would be needed to introduce a land value tax, and the challenges that would be faced in introducing workable and long lasting land tax reform. thenational.scot/politics/24690…
