Doors closed 1.5 hours ago. If you could choose any book to be televised or made into a film, which would it be?

@tribunemagazine Far from shrinking the state, neoliberal politicians have simply shifted who benefits from the state’s largesse, heaping unpayable debts on students and working people while providing massive bailouts to shareholders and executives.

@ColinInDisguise Me too. I got myself over excited and was a little disappointed. Which I'm sure is unfair

People from Belair notice that cycling infrastructure in the city is not safe. Cycle lanes end up on the street without obvious indications for cars and cars don't respect cycling street im val st. Croix. They are badly implemented. #frëscheWand

There is no need to have a debate on Gary Lineker. Two words - ‘Andrew Neil’ - means this is an open and shut case. The BBC allowed its main politics presenter to run a hard right magazine, and espouse right wing opinions on social media. There’s nothing more to say on this!

In the 1970s the popular BBC presenter, Patrick Moore, was Chairman of the very right wing United Country Party which stood candidates in a general election... maybe the rules were different back then... because he carried on presenting The Sky at Night en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Co…

@Peston @PryorJeffrey In doing so, the BBC is accepting the framing of the govt, which seeks to characterise its supporters as non-partisan and its critics as lacking impartiality. It either lacks the courage to challenge this or actually shares that view - due to the number of Tories in senior roles.

We all know that if Gary Lineker had put out a tweet praising the government's 'small boats' policy, Match of the Day would still have a host tomorrow. We all know it.

I was told I couldn't continue to guest present the World Tonight a couple of decades ago, because I was also Political Editor of @NewStatesman at the time; meanwhile the owner of @spectator was given every available BBC slot possible. I have nothing against @afneil but a lot against BBC cowardice

Robert Peston, 2014: The BBC newsroom is "completely obsessed with the agenda set by newspapers", especially the Telegraph and the Mail. The result: it "quite often veers in what you might call a very pro-establishment, rather right-wing direction". 1/4

People seeking asylum in this country make up only 0.18% of the population. If they do have recourse to public funds, it is £37.75 a week. That is just over £5 per day. In one year, Suella Braverman claimed £159,000 in expenses. That is £435 a day.
