The product is not nearly as good as it was in the, 90s, 2000s and 2010s. And get this, it’s NOT because of social media or because people have “more to do” now than ever. Because they don’t. Most people stay at home and are on their phones or watching TV. If the product was good it would thrive more now than ever. Imagine if fro-Kobe, peak Shaq, peak Duncan, McGrady, young LeBron, young Wade, young Durant, KG, Dirk, Iverson, Vince Carter and other stars from the 2000s replaced the stars of the NBA today. And they had the same competitive defensive mindset the 2000s had. The league would be thriving at levels it’s never seen before. The league isn’t even suffering because the stars of the NBA aren’t good enough or don’t compare to the 2000s generation. There are so many great stars today. The problem is they don’t start playing with effort until after the all star break and the foul baiting and overall NBA culture is just GARBAGE compared to previous eras. The data shows it. People don’t like the product. Bring back competitive spirit and defense. This why when Kobe retired people predicted not having his competitive spirit around in the league would make the league worse in time. And they were right.
Shams Charania@ShamsCharania

The NBA has informed teams that the league is projecting a $165 million salary cap for 2026-27 -- $1M lower than previous outlooks due to a reduction in local media revenue, sources tell ESPN. Minimum salary $149M, tax level $201M, first apron $209M, second apron $222M also $1M lower each.

Overall I'm excited about this outfield. Certainly helps to have a generational player in it. Putting aside jokes, sarcasm, negative metstwitter type comments from anyone, how confident are you all in Robert health/offense & getting steady ongoing success from Benge out the gate?

The Astros starting rotation is ranked #18th in the league by @JimBowdenGM “Houston lost Framber Valdez in free agency and the staff will have a very different look without him. Hunter Brown leads the Astros’ rotation after finishing third in the AL Cy Young Award voting last year. They were very active this offseason in trying to replace Valdez, signing Japanese right-hander Tatsuya Imai, who throws 97 with multiple wipeout secondary pitches. For Imai to succeed in MLB, he must own the top of the strike zone with his fastball because it’s straight without a lot of life. However, he does have enough in his repertoire to be a solid mid-rotation starter.”

Sasaki might be a bust. Freddie will turn 37 this year. Mookie not the same since illness 😢 Yamamoto looked ineffective in the WBC. Glasnow always hurt. Ohtani is still Ohtani. Dodgers are scary good, but there are more question marks than we realize.
Dylan Hernández@dylanohernandez

Roki Sasaki is broken. He doesn't know why he can't throw strikes, and he now sounds open to pitching in the minor leagues. What began as a straightforward developmental project has become infinitely more complicated for the Dodgers. nypost.com/2026/03/24/spo…

@HoopAddict31 @WhozMEECH I love the game, and seen it evolve in the last 20 years. The game has unique stars , and I love the playoff intensity. The defense in the playoffs is next level.

@HoopAddict31 @WhozMEECH I just said i don’t watch regular season anymore. My wife does so i’ll watch it w/ her. The playoffs are great. 10 years ago the top scoring team in the league averaged 114.9. How did it increase so drastically? Also Melo said the front office dictates how many middies they take

@DTG616 @WhozMEECH Analytics didn’t kill the mid range. The players decided to take better shots. Notice how the better players take those shots still like they should. Also not that it matters but teams average 115 ppg so again I know you don’t watch

@HoopAddict31 @WhozMEECH I haven’t watched regular season consistently in awhile cause it’s boring. The Playoffs are amazing. I enjoyed last years finals. Young guys defending at an elite level. Pure teams playing together in unison on both ends.

@HoopAddict31 @WhozMEECH I specifically said except elite teams, they are different. You never disputed anything I said from the first reply. Did analytics not kill the mid range game? Are most games ending in 130-140 point range?

@DTG616 @WhozMEECH That doesn’t mean you watch or even comprehend what’s going on TODAY. You talking about playing styles and probably don’t even know what they are. I’m supposed to believe the Spurs and Nuggets play the exact same

@HoopAddict31 @WhozMEECH There were 10 games in the NBA last night. 5 games were decided by over 20 points, 3 were decided by 30 points. 7 teams scored over 130 points. Lets speak in discourse, not insults.

@HoopAddict31 @WhozMEECH Talent level is high, but the lack of different play styles is dull until the playoffs. Most games resemble glorified pickup unless its an elite team. The death of midrange play is sad. The lack of physicality is also discouraging

@WillApplebee @WhozMEECH Its funny seeing younger fans complain about that rule. If you miss 17 games, & still get awarded that is a win. As you said almost 25 percent of the season

@WhozMEECH The tell is the reaction to the 65 game rule People think it’s normal to just skip 20 games and still win awards…not all of these guys are THAT injured, much of it is disguised load management If you’re skipping 25% of the season because you don’t care…why would the fans?

The Mets disappointed me this offseason by botching the Edwin Diaz negotiations and not keeping Pete Alonso BUT… With the FA moves after that, a full year of Nolan McClean, calling up Carson Benge and year 2 of Juan Soto in Queens and I have gotten a little excited Maybe it’s blind optimism, but I think the Mets can be a playoff team this season especially if McClean and the other young pitchers take a step - my biggest concern is Devin Williams as the Closer… But let’s get this thing started Thursday Let’s Go Mets
