So much inflammation. Root causes are a lack of conditioning, poor recovery techniques after engaging in stressful activity like pitching, and not the best of diets. Speaking of inflammation, Verlander is more than likely extremely out of shape, and in his rehab, they should add some serious jogging to help build up his overall endurance; not just for pitching. Otherwise, he may never pitch again except perhaps in occasional relief. As for his actual pitching, I would wager that the spin rates on his pitches are also down too much, and hence batters teeing off as they have in simulated games. If this is the case, then regardless of all rehab efforts, his body may simply be deteriorating a lot like Miggy's did toward the end, and in V's case, it's significantly reducing his pitching effectiveness, also turning him into a shell of his former self. In addition to what I mentioned above, Verlander's diet needs to be changed dramatically to help increase energy if he is ever to get at least marginally productive to finish his career while playing and contributing as a player.

Indeed, Dr. Marshall, but your book (I have a copy) does not include the additional arguments of Fr. Meuli that I doubt you are aware of. Fr. Meuli points out how Pope John Paul II wrongly applied canon law, and since he chose to apply the law as he did and got it wrong (kind of an unforced error but a significant one nevertheless), the so-called excommunications were null and void upon pronouncement. Hence my recommendation to add to your defense of the SSPX. Take the time to read through the cited article, and indeed add the supremely insightful analysis of super canon lawyer Fr. Meuli to your own. And once again, note that in his so-called "lifting" of the excommunications in 2009, Pope Benedict XVI uses some of the same language as that found in Fr. Meuli's analysis. Coincidence? It will only take you a few minutes to thoughtfully read Fr. Meuli's analysis, though you might want to read it a few times and think about the ramifications of the analysis no other canon lawyer has ever refuted as far as is known. Go for it, add to your wisdom, and keep up the good work for Holy Mother Church.

@TaylorRMarshall Add to your defense of the SSPX the superior work of Fr. Denzil Meuli (1926-2019), a recognized elite canon lawyer among canon lawyers. In fine, pertinent sections of a 2001 letter written to a member of the Church by Fr. Meuli contains an in-depth analysis that demonstrates why the 1988 "excommunications" were null and void upon pronouncement, and note that no one has ever refuted his analysis so far as is known. Also note that Fr. Meuli's analysis can be broken down into 2 parts, and the second part is virtually the same as what many have recently argued, but the first part is quite different, and it demonstrates how Pope John Paul II seriously erred in a flawed application of canon law, and in doing so as he did in the manner that he did, his declaration of excommunications was a mere fiction. Moreover, in the 2009 so-called "lifting of the excommunications" by Pope Benedict XVI, the document employs some of the arguments/terminology found in Meuli's analysis, and Pope Benedict did not "lift" the excommunications as is wrongly reported; he declared them to be null and void, as if they never existed. This suggests that Pope Benedict may very well have known that the 1988 "excommunications" were invalid, but of course he would not come right out and say that. Before providing the citation for the article you need to carefully review, note the following credentials that Fr. Meuli enjoyed during his years of service to the Church: Reverend Doctor Denzil Meuli, S.T.D.,U.J.D., Ph.L., LL.B., Advocate for the Holy Roman Rota, Barrister for the High Court of NZ Read the superior analysis, and appreciate how it will also apply to the planned July 1 consecrations at: "A Compelling Defense of the SSPX" by Fr. @gavinashenden Add to your defense of the SSPX the superior work of Fr.
